Poole & Shaffery, LLP is pleased to announce Andrew M. Sevanian has come aboard as an associate attorney in the Business Counseling, Business Transactions and Intellectual Property departments. Mr. Sevanian focuses on general business and corporate law as well as trademark law.
Prior to joining Poole & Shaffery, Mr. Sevanian worked in private practice by representing clients in numerous industries on a wide range of transactional legal matters, including business formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and securities compliance, trademark protection, employment agreements, services agreements, licensing agreements, and various business agreements.
Mr. Sevanian also volunteers as a member of the Regional Leadership Council of the American Cancer Society.
Santa Clarita City Council
Air Force veteran, local business owner and former CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Latino Chamber of Commerce, Bill Miranda was appointed to the Santa Clarita City Council in a special election to fill the seat left vacated by State Assemblyman Dante Acosta.
Miranda’s corporate career includes time with many Fortune 500 companies including IBM, Xerox and Data General. Currently he is president of Bill Miranda Consulting and Editor in Chief of Our Valley Santa Clarita. He also has been a prominent voice in the community, hosting Leadership Starts with You on KHTS, Our Valley Santa Clarita on SCVTV and has served on many non-profit boards.
Junior Chamber International
Debbie Holbrook, a longtime member of and mentor to JCI Santa Clarita, recently was appointed Senator for the international organization. A senatorship is the highest international honor that can be given to a Jaycee. Only one out of every 1,000 Jaycees becomes a senator.
Holbrook also is a very active community volunteer and has held positions on multiple boards, including President of the Brenda Mehling Cancer Fund, Officer at Large for the Child & Family Center and Board Member for the Michael Hoefflin Foundation.
The US JCI Senate consists of over 7,800 members throughout 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department
Roosevelt Johnson, captain at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station since 2014, recently was promoted to commander.
Born and raised in Port Author, Texas, Commander Johnson spent four years in the United States Navy before joining the police academy. In 2005, Commander Johnson was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Lennox Station, Custody Operations Division Headquarters. In 2009, he was promoted to Lieutenant at North County Correctional Facility, Altadena Station and North Patrol Division Headquarters as an Executive Aide. Finally, after 23 years of service in the LASD, he was made captain and assigned to the valley he’d lived in for more than two decades.
Office of Steve Knight
The office of Congressman Steve Knight is pleased to announce local business owner and non-profit founder Joshua Rivers as the new field representative for the Santa Clarita Valley.
As president and CEO, Rivers oversees Overwatch Security Services, Inc., a highly specialized veteran-owned and -operated investigations and security consulting firm with a passionate focus on quality services, high-standards and attention to detail.
In addition to his work with Overwatch, Rivers also serves as co-founder of The Battle Buddy Foundation, which provides highly trained psychiatric and mobility service dogs to veterans of all eras suffering from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and physical limitations, at no cost to the veteran.
