Concerts in the Park
Get those summer dancing shoes ready for hot nights full of great music and hours of moving to the beat, because the Concerts in the Park series is on the horizon. The City of Santa Clarita’s Central Park will once again be the meeting grounds for music lovers of all ages to enjoy a new round of tribute bands who will entertain the sea of fans. Each concert is free to the public and family friendly. The City of Santa Clarita puts this concert series on every summer, and shows run for eight consecutive Saturday nights in July and August. Food vendors are on site for residents and visitors to enjoy a variety of treats, sure to cure your summer cravings.
This year’s concert series runs from July 7 to August 25. So when the clock hits 7:00 p.m. on July 7, the much anticipated concert series will begin as Wanted, a Bon Jovi tribute band, takes the stage. Wanted is based out of Los Angeles and is known for not using any vocal tracks or samplings, giving authenticity to their performances of such timeless hits as Livin’ on a Prayer and Wanted.
No one wows a crowd like the piano man, Elton John. Kenny Metcalf as Elton & The Early Years tribute band will take the stage July 14. If sounding like Elton was not enough, Metcalf wears Elton’s signature glasses and fashion, giving the audience a performance so close to seeing the real Elton perform…that concertgoers may believe they have.
For those who need to be woken up before September ends, do not worry. This next band will do just that, with more than 20 years of Green Day music to choose from. On July 21, Green Today, a Green Day tribute band, will take to the stage in all their punk rock glory. According to Green Today’s website, the tribute band was founded on three basic ideas: “The need to rock, our love for Green Day, and most importantly, so many others’ love of Green Day, too.” With this type of philosophy, every Green Day fan is sure to be satisfied by the show.
Up next on the stage is a band that needs no introduction, since all Californians should know the lyrics to Hotel California, which happens to be the name for this Eagles’ tribute band. Hotel California is internationally recognized and will delight Santa Clarita residents on July 28, playing mega-hits such as “Heartache Tonight” and “Take it Easy.”
August begins with Matchbox Twenty Too, which could be mistaken for the real Matchbox Twenty. On August 4, San Diego based tribute band Matchbox Twenty Too will bring back a flood of memories from the ‘90s while putting on a signature style show that Matchbox Twenty fans will enjoy.
A great band needs a great tribute band with a catchy name. Foo Fighters nailed it with their tribute band Fooz Fighters, who will perform on August 11. Fooz Fighters will play all the favorites from over three decades of chart-topping music. If it is a rock concert fans are after, this is the event to attend. Fooz Fighters has become one of the top Foo Fighters tribute bands in the nation and has played to packed crowds at concert halls, festivals and casinos.
On August 18, The PettyBreakers, who are the nation’s premier Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute act, will once again bring the house down as they return to Santa Clarita. The PettyBreakers are based out of Southern California and have put a lot of focus into creating an amazing show experience with the same sights and sounds of a Tom Petty concert.
Last but not least will be another Concerts in the Park crowd favorite, 40 oz. to Freedom, which will bring their SoCal vibe, as a popular award-winning tribute band to Sublime. Get ready for August 25 and sing “Wrong Way” and “Santeria” as loudly as possible. This year’s concert series is a well-rounded roster of fan-favorite music, giving everyone something to dance to!
