A passion for Vegas, entertaining and gaming is apparent in the lovely Saugus home of David and Kelly Toneman.  Indeed much of the furniture in the home was purchased in Las Vegas, a frequent vacation spot for the couple.
The 5,400 square foot home features four bedrooms, four baths and a wondrous 1,500 square foot game room. It is situated on a private flag lot nestled against golden hills of Santa Clarita.
It is apparent that Dave, a general contractor, takes pride in his work and his talent for expansion is apparent.  Kelly, a hair stylist at Priscilla’s Salon, applies her creative abilities to the residence’s design and décor.   The home, purchased new and “vanilla” in 2003, has been completely remodeled in every room.  “Every tile and every surface was torn out and replaced,” explains Dave.  “From door knobs to light fixtures, everything had to go.”
The home’s colors are soothing browns, crèmes, tans and rusts. Dave’s mother Nadja Rayii, a faux artist, created the many different faux finishes throughout the home.  Several accent walls in the home are actual rust.  The process involves applying metallic paint over a base primer, then spraying on a rust inhibitor.  “It takes five minutes to do what nature does in 20 years,” he explains.
The kitchen features a large custom made breakfast nook with granite top.  “We use this area all day long, every day….eating, homework, crafts, you name it,” says Kelly.  Dave likes to work with 3D Woodworks of Santa Clarita for all of their custom home and business projects.
A large and comfortable family room is adjacent to the kitchen and guest bath which features Venetian plaster faux paint, travertine shower, counter tops and marble sink.
The four upstairs bedrooms include the Master and their three daughters’ rooms, each decorated to suit their personalities. Sixteen-year-old daughter Kayla’s room is Paris themed with glittered walls; Taylor’s room is awash in baby blue; and Brooke’s is a feminine white Shabby Chic (Taylor and Brooke are 10-year-old twins).  The girls enjoy a jungle theme bathroom with bold tiger print walls and many playful monkeys.
Perhaps the most amazing room in the house is the game room.  It’s difficult to imagine what is NOT in this room for entertaining.  The 1,500 square foot space has a poker table (Dave is an avid poker player), arcade games, slot machines, board games, pool table, shuffleboard table and large bar with of course, a built-in video poker machine!  Michael Godard, a famous Las Vegas themed artist, originals are colorfully displayed.  The game room adjoins a “full service” kitchenette and guest bath with a copper colored blown glass sink and cabana chair.  “We entertain.  A lot,” says Kelly.  Dave regularly hosts poker tournaments involving up to 50 Santa Clarita card fanatics.
After a rousing game of Texas Hold ‘em, guests may wander to the equally spacious and comfortable back yard.  The pool itself has a spa, several water falls, beach entry (complete with thatched roof umbrella), and a partially enclosed waterslide.  Surround sound speakers envelop guests in music while five natural gas Tiki torches and one large stone pot placed atop the waterfall light up the night.  “At night, this yard feels like you’re in an episode of Survivor,” jokes Dave.
