Can you believe we are already getting into Springtime? Springtime is usually such a happy refreshing time of the year. We at élite Magazine are trying to stay positive with all of the sadness happening around the world with the Coronavirus. At home, we are glad to see Jeri Goldman back home from her adventure and we hope Carl Goldman will be home soon. We put together a story to help with basic protective measures on the Coronavirus. See page 26. We hope everyone stays safe out there.
Our Ultimate Awards in this issue are for our medical professionals. The winners are all at the top of their industry. If you are looking for a new doctor you should start on page 12.
All of the stories in this issue are inspirational, starting with our cover this month. We feature a motivational speaker, success coach, husband, father, and cancer survivor, such a wonderful story. Go check it out page 8.
You may be familiar with local trainer in town, Dave Eastham. Dave had an unfortunate event happen to him that we can all learn from. See page 20 to read his story.
We have featured two sisters, who created a non-profit organization that provides the tools necessary to stop life-threatening bleeding with Bleed Kits.
We have several non-profit spotlights that we are pretty passionate about. One is the Out of the Darkness Run that brings light to medical issues and the other is the Special Olympics who host many different events in town and help people with special needs.
Also featured is Jeff Sutphen, a guy that is a producer by day and a superhero by night. See why on page 30.
Tiffany Beriner’s love for teaching is a great story, read more about her on page 38
We always enjoy our regular columns SCV Reel Talk, this one is particularly interesting remembering the golden years, our SCVEDC column this time talks about medical devices and Henry Mayo’s story shares the growth of the hospital with us.
Our million dollar home is so beautiful. If you are looking for a new home, this one might just be the one and lucky for you, it’s on the market for sale.
Our looking back is all about the Holocaust. A special thank you to Naomi Young for writing about this.
Have you heard of the Santa Clarita Ballet Company? Well Corinne Glover created it and we have the full story all about it.
We love the arts and Kiki Egetoe is a fantastic artist who made paintings of the teens that lost their lives in the Saugus High School shooting.
SchlickArt has moved into a new studio and we are so excited for them. See their story on page 58.
Melanie Meyer is a candidate for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Gold Coast chapter Woman of the Year. Every dollar raised by Melanie counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most votes is named the Woman of the Year, see if you can help her.
Eve Bushman always goes to such cool places. She went to Paso Robles and took us with her. If you are planning a wine trip this is the perfect article to read.
Have you been to the Old Town Newhall Farmers Market? Larry McClements is the director and he has made it into such a wonderful place to shop for Santa Clarita. The farmers market is every Saturday from 8:30 am to 1 pm. We hope you go and visit soon. We think you will be very impressed. Larry also made a Jambalaya recipe he had to share with us. It looks so good I can’t wait to try it out.
Did you know the Cowboy festival is coming soon? Save the dates April 18 and 19. This event always brings such fun to our town. Our calendar is packed with so many amazing events, there is so much to do in our valley. I hope to see you around town.
Just a reminder, Mother’s Day is on May 10. We have a special tribute to the mothers in our lives on page 72. Happy Mother’s day to all the wonderful moms in Santa Clarita.
Cheers From Alexander Hafizi & Arnold Bryant
