A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – June/July 2021
Summer is upon us! This is one of my favorite times of the year, there’s always so much fun to be had, from planning beach trips to camping trips or just hanging out by the pool in the backyard. It just seems like a much happier time. I am definitely excited for summer, I hope you are too.
Speaking of favorites, as some of you may know I am the Chairman of the Board for Circle of Hope, a non-profit that is near and dear to my heart because I have had family members who have passed away from cancer. Circle of Hope, Inc. was established in 2004 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, their mission is to provide emotional, educational and financial assistance along with supportive wellness therapies to those affected by cancer in the Santa Clarita Valley. Circle of Hope has about 130 clients, that number, unfortunately is growing. Back in April, Circle of Hope had a fundraiser called Starry Night Cinema and it was such a wonderful event that raised about $10,000 for our organization, we have some really hardworking board members that adapted and overcame so many obstacles this last year. Hats off to my amazing board, well done team! Our next fundraiser is Vine-2-Wine, this will be an extremely exclusive event at the new Porsche Wünderground Museum, it’s going to be out of this world! Follow Circle of Hope on social media for more information or go to the website at www.circleofhopeinc.org.
Our June/July issue is filled with lots of amazing stories. Our cover star is a gentleman that has had 40 seasons and 4,000 broadcasts with the NHL. Nick Nickson has seen a thing or two while being a broadcaster. We had the pleasure of chatting with him for this issue.
We are pleased to feature our Ultimate Gentlemen in Business Awards in this issue, and let me tell you, these gentlemen are among some of the most interesting people we have featured. You will be able to learn more about each of them as well. I have to thank all of you who have voted for our ultimate awards each time. It always amazes me that so many people vote for their favorites. I would also like to thank all of the advertisers that have supported us. The next awards are the 11th Annual Ultimate Home and Garden Awards and the 3rd Annual Ultimate Kid Activities Awards. Stop by our website to start voting every 24 hours.
Continuing with the gentleman theme. We have a pilot that has met some pretty important people while flying. Steve Hopp has been a pilot for 50 years. We also have Dennis Young whose close relationships with his father helped him create a legacy of hard work and dedication to pass down to his kids, a true family man. Our next gentleman is known by most people in Santa Clarita as the best MC in town. Ed Masterson has quite a life story and we are honored to feature him in this issue. Meet PJ Megaw, an up and coming actor who is becoming pretty well known in the indusstry. Also featured is Robert Pretzlaff the new Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. We wish him and all the gentlemen in this issue the very best.
Have you heard of JDavid’s Custom Clothiers? We had some fun with men’s fashion at their place in the patio at Westfield Valencia Town Center. Stop by their place for a great dads or grads gift for your loved ones. Speaking of dads and grads we have our Fabulous Finds Gift Guide for all of those epic gifts for them.
Looking for something beautiful to look at? The million dollar home in this issue is absolutely amazing. It is such a beautiful home with an enormous bonus room that has a sweeping spiral staircase and so much more. We have also featured three homes that are for sale from two different realtors in our home showcase.
I don’t know about you, but I have really been into podcasts lately. So much so that I thought it would be great to share as many podcasts as I could find that are local to our valley. If you aren’t sure what a podcast is we explain it in this feature, I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I do.
Did you know that Santa Clarita has bike trails? We were so excited to feature them in this issue. If you decide to try out one of these trails please let us know or tag scvelitemagazine on social media. Speaking of tagging us we love our restaurants in this town so check out our perfect bite dining guide and tag us if you go to one of these restaurants. And if you don’t feel like going out to dinner how about making dinner at home with the recipe that Larry McClements supplied to us. Seeing these restaurants and food always makes me so hungry and pretty thirsty. Eve Bushman chats with us about Whisky to wash it all down with. Thank you Eve!
Other stories we have are our SCV Reel Talk for all things film in Santa Clarita, our Santa Clarita Arts Commission giving us updates on in the art world of Santa Clarita, our SCV EDC that gives us updates on all these business. And last but not least we got to meet Stacey Edwards the Branch Manager at Logix in the Promenade and got to share her story with you.
We at èlite Magazine hope you enjoy reading our magazine as much as we enjoy bringing it to your home or business. If you or someone you know isn’t getting our magazine please go to www.scvelitemagazine.com/subscribe and sign up to get our magazine for free or you can also enjoy it on line in our digital issue.
Cheers and have a wonderful Summer.
