by | Sep 27, 2021 | Associate Publisher

Fall has arrived and I couldn’t be more excited for cooler weather and the holidays. I cannot believe you are reading our October/November 2021 issue, this year has just flown by. I really hope you enjoy this magazine, it has so many great local stories. For example, our cover story features FeedSCV’s co-founders Todd Wilson and Scott Ervin. They have a great event coming up on November 13, it should be a good one, so don’t miss out. Another great feature talks about the diverse collection of new homes offered by FivePoint, you are sure to find one that you love! As you may know, Breast Cancer Awareness month is October and Henry Mayo is raising awareness with their story featuring a breast cancer survivor. We also feature four amazingly strong women who have, or are still dealing with cancer, they are staying strong with the help of the American Cancer Society and Circle of Hope. Another great story of survival is our interview with locals Jeff and Melanie Meyer, they are truly amazing.
Speaking of truly amazing we are pleased to announce the winners of our Ultimate Dining Awards. I always get excited to see the numbers of votes we receive for our awards, we love the interaction from the residents, you certainly know what you like! Thank you everyone for voting and thank you to the businesses that support us. Our next Ultimate Awards are our 2021 Ultimate Ladies in Business. Go to our website and nominate your friends, co-workers and anyone you think deserves recognition. You can vote for them now and every day on our website at www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards.
In honor of Thanksgiving, Larry McClements gave us a great recipe for turkey. Should be a good one to try. Eve Bushman is talking all about gin in her article. Who doesn’t love gin?
Logix wants everyone to get to know their branch managers at each location here in Santa Clarita. This issue we meet Matt Onstad the branch manager at the Golden Valley office. Kaiser Permanente is always here to help, in fact they are sharing ways to protect yourself from Type 2 Diabetes. Something very interesting to learn.
Our million-dollar home is beautifully decorated for the fall time. We hope it brings you inspiration to decorate your own home. Many thanks to the homeowner Elizabeth Friedman for allowing us a sneak peek and thank you to Michael of Joie de Vivre Photographie for capturing such great pictures.
Our local realtors have some great homes to share in our home showcase. Contact one of them if you are looking for a new home.
We are so proud of our local Olympians, we just had to feature them in this issue. So, sit back and read about all six of them. Track and Field athlete Allyson Felix, Volleyball player David Smith, Swimmer Abbey Weitzel, Softball athlete Brittany Cervantes, Volleyball player Kyle Ensing and Archer Kevin Mather. Congratulations to all of these great athletes!
Did you know VIA (Valley Industry Association) is celebrating 40 years in business? They have a super fun event coming up on November 5, you won’t want to miss it.
Who loves animals as much as I do? I was so excited to feature Brooke Edwards of Fostering Pawsibilites. She is doing such amazing things for animals in Santa Clarita.
Have you heard of Win 1 Church? We sat down with Pastor Debra Stallworth to learn more about it.
In this issue, we feature the artists of the 11th Annual Empowering Hearts Gala. We hope you get to know the artists and why they are volunteering to be a part of this event. The event will be held on November 12. We hope to see you there.
Holly Schroeder from the SCV EDC always has something interesting to talk about, in this issue she discusses the importance of local businesses contributing to the community. Be sure to give that article a read. Our valley always has filming going on, but I bet you didn’t know they have filmed lots of spooky season flicks here too. As a horror fan myself I thought it would be cool to learn more about them and it’s just in time for Halloween. We always feature a story from Santa Clarita Arts Commission and this issue they are talking about all the fun activities available at the Santa Clarita Public Library.
As I said so many great stories. I hope you sit back and grab a drink of choice and enjoy reading the articles in our magazine. And when you see them on our social media pages, please let us know what you think about them. It is always such a pleasure producing these magazines. I hope you appreciate them as much as we do. A huge thank you to you for reading and a huge thank you to the advertisers in the magazine without them this magazine wouldn’t be possible.

Cheers and until next time,
Alexander Hafizi
