élite: How did you get into the business? A lot of my family is in the entertainment business. My uncle is actor and comedian, Flex Alexander. My aunt, Shanice, is an R & B singer/songwriter who sang the hit single I Love Your Smile in 1991. Their love for the industry just trickled down to me and I’ve always had an interest in being a part of it. While living out here, I attended the Los Angeles County High School for Arts, and went there for two years. The school was intense and I devoted so much time to it. I would leave at 5 a.m. to drive to school and come home around 6:30 or 7 p.m. in the evening. Pursuing anything outside of school wasn’t going to happen because of time. I decided to go to West Ranch for the last two years of high school, and I finally had time to breathe and pursue a career. élite: What is Ruba’s World? The idea of Ruba’s World started as a sole effort. Basically my main demographic is to target the younger generation. I interview popular teen stars such as the Jonas Brothers, Alyson Stoner and Anna Maria Perez DeTagle from Camp Rock 2, and post them up on the web. I keep it real and I keep it fun. The Ruba’s World website has received well over five million views! élite: How do you get the opportunity to interview these celebrities? Everyone I interview I absolutely love and of course I want to give them all the praise. Most of the time, the celebrities call my manager and ask for the interview. élite: Who was your first interview? My very first interview was with teen actors and brothers Chris and Kyle Massey. They were and are the coolest guys ever. I grew up watching them on shows like Zoey 101 and That’s So Raven. It was surreal to be standing next to them! Chris and Kyle are my friends right now, and in fact many of the people I interview end up becoming friends because we are all in the industry. élite: To date, what would you say was a highlight of your career? The Jonas Brothers interview was by far one of my favorite interviews. It was so spur of the moment and was a true definition of the industry I am in. My PR person called me and said I had 30 minutes to head to Burbank. As I managed to gather my bearings, I was quickly writing my questions on a napkin. I got to Burbank and the interview ended up being about 30 minutes. They were one of the coolest groups to interview. élite: Is it easier to interview someone you know or you don’t know? I think interviewing someone you don’t know is much easier. While I am big fans of the people I meet, I realized that once the interview starts, I’m not that fan anymore. I try not to talk to the people before I interview them, so when I do an interview, it’s on the spot and real. I’ve been trained to never feel like I will have a second chance. I just “go out there and do it.” I’ve knocked it out from the beginning and just kept it rolling. I never ever do another take. élite: Any plans for the future? I got accepted to Cal Arts but have decided to take some classes at College of the Canyons. As far as Ruba’s World, I can’t say what I’m working on right now, but be prepared for some big interviews! I’m so excited! élite: Do you have a message for your fans? Thank you so much. You’ve been crazy supportive-thank you and keep on supporting Ruba’s World!
