They’re four hardworking and young talented musicians who are destined for success. Meet Midnight Escape Artists.
Though the band was formed in 2009, the lineup became solid just about two years ago, when drummer Daniel Ellis joined Santa Clarita residents Aaron Miller, Michael Whelan, Peter Knowles and Robert Arispe.
“If you were to describe us, progressive, alternative rock would be a good description,” states Aaron, rhythm guitarist and singer.
“Every song is different, though, and we each bring a unique vibe to the band,” says bandmate, Robert, who came up with the band’s name.
“I was up late one night and the name just came to me. There’s less distraction at night for musical ideas, and it’s the perfect time to escape without interruption.”
And thus came the name Midnight Escape Artists.
The band has performed at many venues in the Los Angeles area including Whiskey a Go Go and The Viper Room to name a few. They have been seen at open mic night in the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding valleys and have entertained crowds at local pizzerias.
Last year, youngest band member, Michael Antony alongside Robert, decided to collaborate with 10 other Santa Clarita musicians. “We had ten guitar players and two bassists,” states Mikey, who composed the song. “Shredding At the Gates of Heaven” is a guitar instrumental featuring the musicians from the SCV. “We wanted to get a bunch of musicians together from around here,” states Robert. “We put out a call on social media and finally after a few months, we were able to meet and record a song.” Each guitar player and bassist have a solo which can be heard at https://soundcloud.com/michael-antony-whelan/shredding-at-the-gates-of-heaven.
“We have a lot to look forward to,” states Aaron. “While it takes money and time to be successful, it also takes a lot of devotion. A great fan base and a lot of luck sure doesn’t hurt.”
