Racer’s Edge Indoor Karting… It’s the Place to Be

Racing. It’s in their blood. And now they’re sharing their passion with us.

For three generations, competitive motorsports racing has been in the Basso family.  “It’s been a part of us since the first decade of the 1900’s,” states John Basso, CEO and primary owner with wife Kellie Basso of Racer’s Edge Indoor Karting, LLC.  In fact, it dates back to when his grandfather, Giacomo and great uncle Dominic left Italy and settled in Los Angeles.  “My grandfather preferred motorcycles and raced on the board track circuit in Southern California,” states John. “My great Uncle Dominic raced four wheelers in open wheel sprint cars, setting a land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the 1920’s.”  Following in his grandfather’s racing footsteps, John’s father, Romano took part in the 1940’s through 1950’s Street Rods and Racing scene in the Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley.  It was only natural that John followed the family tradition of racing, spending time with Offroad Racing, racing motorcycles off road cars in the deserts of California, Nevada, Arizona and Baja California. “I took a short hiatus from racing to marry my loving wife Kellie, and 20 years later, I’m still trying to find the time to get back into the competitive motorsports world,” states John.

And then came the idea of Racer’s Edge, an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

 “I thought it would be something enjoyable for the second part of my life, but also, to introduce the business of motorsports with our son, Gianni, fourth generation of the Basso family tree.  Hopefully, he will continue to flourish and follow any dreams he may have in life, using Racer’s Edge as a platform to start from,” states John.

Partnering in this business endeavor is Director of Events and wife, Kellie Basso, Chief Financial Officer Richard Sollman and Chief Operating Officer Mark Borchetta.  Together, with John, they make a winning team, bringing different and unique qualities to contribute to the company, building a solid foundation needed to succeed.  Kellie’s 20 years of management and customer service skills in the dental field along with years of racing motocross gives her the ability to make clear and concise business decisions both at a managerial level as well as within her own department.  Richard is a business associate in commercial and industrial real estate who brings many years of management experience, customer service and real estate expertise.  “As CFO,” states John, “Richard keeps us in line.”  Mark also brings many years of marketing and advertising expertise to the table.  He’s passionate about getting the word out to the community that Racer’s Edge is the place to be.  

Racer’s Edge Indoor Karting is Santa Clarita’s indoor place to race – the only facility of its kind providing you with motorsports racing.  The 94,000 square foot facility is climate controlled, with five designated party/corporate areas.  It’s a place where a seasoned race car driver can come on their off time and just race for fun, or compete professionally during mid-week racing leagues.  It’s also a place where parents and kids can get involved with go-kart racing at a fraction of the cost.  “Our goal,” states John, “is to be a permanent fixture within the Valley – an additional entertainment venue to offer local residents and out of town guests that are here for business or pleasure.  At Racer’s Edge, we will strive to achieve our goals at the highest level, because we feel our community deserves nothing less!”
