Terrell Edwards – Spreading Love Through Music
Before he was a lead singer and professional musician, Terrell Edwards was just a kid watching his dad navigate the world of melodies and music theory as he grew up. Now, a few decades and a smash hit single later, Terrell is working to keep the momentum up the best way he knows how: by spreading love through music.
Terrell is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but he now lives in Santa Clarita, where he recently appeared at the Canyon Club. He’s self-taught, after initially struggling (surprisingly) to convince his dad that a career in music is what he wanted to pursue. Of course, it’s important to mention that his move to our valley has its own crazy inspiration source: Jay Leno.
During his time as a member of the 50’s tribute group, Tri City Rat Pack, Terrell got the attention of Jay Leno, who had been searching for an opening act. In fact, it was Jay Leno’s encouragement that pushed Terrell to make the move to Los Angeles. After opening for Jay in Las Vegas, he convinced Terrell that the next step was to move to L.A. – to the city of stars where he belonged.
Terrell has had his fair share of exciting entertainment encounters, like his work with multi-platinum songwriter and producer Preston Glass. Among other songs, he and Preston released 100%, a single that quickly climbed the UK Soul Charts in 2021. It debuted at #14, and was listed as one of the top 100 UK soul releases of 2021.
Needless to say, Terrell has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments during his time as a singer, songwriter, and performer. He received a call from none other than Greg Adams, an original member of Tower of Power. It was Greg who encouraged him to audition for lead singer for his new band, East Bay Soul, and 10 minutes later, he got the call offering him the fantastic opportunity to be an integral part of the group. Today, he continues to sing the lead, and is actively focusing on using his talent and time to share the love with his audiences.
In addition to his performances and community events, Terrell also lends his time to organizations like the Reach Mission Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Society. It’s important for him to find ways to give back to the same communities that supported him when he was growing into his role in the music scene.
“I love to promote love – it makes the world go round,” he says. “I lost my dad in 2020 to COVID-19, and it was a tough time, but I knew if he were here, he’d want me to do what I’m doing now, and that’s spreading love through music.”
He’s got hopes for new collaborations, partnerships, TV shows, a new solo project, movie productions, and a Grammy (or two) – the future is bright for Terrell, and he’s grateful for every second of it!
