They danced and smiled in a sea of satin as the Henry Mayo Silver Rose debutantes ended their season at the Grand Ball on Saturday, March 28 in the Starview Room at the Universal Sheraton. Eight high school seniors sparkled as they bowed, curtsied and danced along with their fathers and escorts in front of 160 guests, raising funds for the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s laboratory services. The debutantes walked through a tunnel of sabers held high by Midshipmen, United States Marine Corps Reserve, ROTC from USC, following an introduction by Linda Hafizi, chairperson for the Henry Mayo Foundation.  Fathers and daughters took to the dance floor as guests waited for the much-anticipated Grand Waltz. The Silver Rose Debutante program is open to seniors with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.  The season requires a minimum of 50 hours of community service, including planning and attending hospital fundraisers, ending with the Grand Ball.
