A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – Aug/Sept 2020
We are sending our good wishes to everyone while we go through this very difficult time together. As much as possible, we at élite Magazine have been working from home due to COVID-19, but we are excited about bringing this issue to you as it has so many great stories. For example our cover story is our new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Captain. He has really stepped up as a leader in our community given the circumstances. When you read his story you will see that being a sheriff has always been a dream of his and he is honored to serve our community.
In this issue, we have the winners of our 2nd annual élite Ultimate Gentlemen in Business awards. These winners are such awesome people in our community, we are honored to have been able to give them this award from all the votes you casted. As you look through to see who the winners are please give them a call and use their services, they are the best in their field. We have three other ultimate categories up for you to vote on right now just go to www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards. The three categories are our dining, home & garden and kids activities. You can vote daily and if you don’t see someone you know that deserves an award you can add them. So start voting today.
We have some really great closeup stories for you in this issue, as you are flipping through you will notice a theme that matches our awards. Just to name a few we have Mayor Cameron Smyth, Jason Crawford of the City of Santa Clarita, Eddie Mendoza a singer from Saugus High School, singer songwriter, Jonathan Redrow who just released his first single, Dr. Larry Kidd of Henry Mayo Newhall Hosptial, and Richard Patterson of Owen Patterson and Owen.
Our dynamic couple not only have a love for each other, but a love for animals, a love for travel and work. They are a true inspirational couple.
Our Million Dollar Home is absolutely stunning! Located in the Sand Canyon area this is the perfect family home for your growing family . When I look at those pictures I can just imagine hanging out with my family in that house. It is such a phenominal home that will make any family super happy. This house can be yours and is listed at $1.4million. We all love living and working in the Santa Clarita Valley and our Economic Development Corporation have a special website to help you find a new job or that job of your dreams without having to leave Santa Clarita.
With all that is going on with COVID-19 we felt it was a great time to celebrate the heroes of Santa Clarita. We have a special tribute to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, the City of Santa Clarita, our Fire Department, our Sheriff‘s Department, AMR and the community. We would like to thank everyone for taking care of each other during these unprecendented times.
Wondering what is going on in the SCV film world? We have an update for you on all the filming happening during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Do you like to cook? I would suggest that you order your dinner from a restaurant and make the dessert. Larry McClements has given us a recipe for a peach tart that looks amazing. All the ingredients can we found at our local farmers market.
Maybe you are into making drinks? Eve Bushman talks to us about the perfect liquor cabinet. So many helpful tips.
Speaking of helpful, the city of Santa Clarita has not let COVID-19 stop them from being creative and delivering virtual events to the public. Our Arts Commission has given you the low down on all the cool events they are still doing virtually.
Our looking back is near and dear to our hearts. Mike Malone was such a great guy. He will be missed by many but never forgotten. We hope the tribute to him will keep his legacy going forever and we send our sincere condolences to his husband Brian P. O’Connor.
With the current climate in our nation over Black Lives Matter we decided to Spotlight some of the peaceful protest that occurred here in our valley in hopes to highlight their voice and what they are working towards in the near future.
With all that being said, thank you so much for reading our magazine.
Cheers from Alexander Hafizi & Arnold Bryant
