A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – August/September 2021
Can you believe summer is almost over? I can’t wait for it to start cooling off. Who’s with me? Although I love seeing everyone heading to the beach or going on vacation and having amazing summers.
Our cover star is someone that has a beautiful soul and a wonderful heart. She started a nonprofit and wrote a book. I can’t wait for you to get to know Syreeta Brown.
Our Ultimate Awards are very special in this issue. We have two very different categories. The first one is our 11th Annual Home & Garden Awards. These awards show us the best of the best in Santa Clarita and the greatest part about this is that you are the ones that vote on them. We can’t thank you all enough for taking the time to vote each time. We have ultimate landscaping to ultimate cleaning service to ultimate construction company and beyond. If you are looking for someone to help you change or fix your home you will find them in this issue. We also featured a million dollar home in Castaic to give you some inspiration for your home. And if you feel like a change, we have our Home Showcase with listings from our favorite realtors in this issue. Also, Five Point Valencia are selling their homes super fast so don’t forget to check them out before they are sold out.
Our second ultimate category is for the kids, it’s our 3rd Annual Ultimate Kid Activities awards. The businesses that care for our kids are very important, they are the ones keeping them busy while we work. They are the ones helping them learn to be better people in this world. Let’s give it up for those local businesses. We have everything from ultimate tutoring to ultimate private school to ultimate summer camps and the list goes on. It’s a phenomenal list of kid friendly businesses for you and your kids.
Continuing with the kids theme. Have you heard what three junior high school science teachers are doing? I’ll let you read it to find out more.
We got to chat with the principal from our newest school Castaic High School. Such a great principal and a very cool campus.
We have some young talented people in this issue as well, like Griffin Loch a young filmmaker who is on the rise. Madison Marigold who is a fantastic singer. Sara Vogler who is a true inspiration to all. D’Wilfri DanceArt & Entertainment teamed up with Single Mother’s Outreach(SMO) to create a dance program for the kids in their organization. Such a great story. Speaking of SMO, we had the chance to meet the honoree’s of SMO’s Empowering Hearts gala. I personally just love that they honor such wonderful people each year. This years’ gala is survivor themed. It’s going to be so amazing.
We also feature quite a bit of information on the theater world. The Main is gearing up production for this year and Raising the Curtain Foundation is supporting the Newhall Family Theatre. Have you heard of Mission Opera? They are bringing the arts to students and we are happy to share it with you. So don’t miss out on all the fun.
Let’s talk about food. We met a mother-daughter duo who are tearing it up in the kitchen. Larry McClements supplied us with a recipe for easy grilled pork chops with bourbon glazed carrots. You should try it. SCV Reel Talk explores on-screen romances and local restaurants. And our very own Eve Bushman went to Paso Robles and wants everyone to go visit.
We also feature Jason Lee the branch manager at Bouquet Canyon’s Logix Federal Credit Union. It’s reassuring to know that Henry Mayo Hospital has a fast heart attack response time for our community. You may have seen him on the big screen. Luca Toumadi is an actor on the rise as well. Collin Fowler wrote a book that you will want to read once you find out what it’s about. The SCV Economic Development Corporation urges you to shop local. We have made that really easy for you just take a look at our Fabulous Finds shopping guide. Also don’t forget to vote on the Ultimate Dining awards by going to our website at www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards.
Until the next issue,
Alexander Hafizi
