A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – Feb-Mar 2021
Can you believe we are in 2021 already? As we come up to the first anniversary of the 2020 pandemic, I am pleased to see light at the end of the tunnel with the introduction of several different vaccines now on the market. I hope everyone is staying healthy. And now, it’s time for some fun news.
This issue of élite Magazine is packed with good news. First up, our cover story of Austin Dave. I am sure most people in Santa Clarita know him. He is the man with all the news. He is always first to the scene and always has the most updated information. It’s our pleasure to feature him and on our cover.
Our Ultimate Awards in this issue are extremely exciting. We have four different categories: Business, Beauty, Bridal and Fitness. Our ultimate awards always amaze me as we get thousands of votes each time. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for their favorites. I would also like to thank all of the businesses that support us with the purchase of an ad, our magazine looks beautiful because of you. Our next round of awards, quite appropriately, will be to our very deserving Doctors, and all those people involved with the medical industry. So, please, stop by our website to start voting now or to nominate your medical favorites.
In this issue, we have some extraordinary people and businesses that are featured. For example Michelle Rey, who is the new executive director at the College of the Canyons Foundation. Kathy Norris, who has been the CEO/President of the Valley Industrial Association for the past 25 years, what an accomplishment! Another great story is Troy Hooper, he has a new plan that he is excited to share. My good friend Koren Young is a video producer, Koren had to adapt his business to overcome a few obsticles due to COVID-19, only to find himself at the helm of a successful new business. Speaking of COVID-19, we interviewed some of our advertiser to ask them how they are dealing with the pandamic, we asked them how they had pivoted their business. There are some really interesting comments that may help you to also pivot your business.
In this issue, Henry Mayo Newhall Hosptial gives us some COVID-19 tips for multigenerational households, which can be super helpful for SCV families.
Do you ever wonder how a song becomes a hit? This next business created an app called Breaking Hits. It is such a cool concept for the music industry. It allows you to rate songs before they are released with lots of fun perks.
Have you heard the term its Sweater Weather? This young entrepreneur Madi Cruz started her own sweater company and called it, Sweater Weather. She is only 15 years old and such an inspiration.
BSH Landscape teamed up with Chris Angelo of Stay Green Landscape to create the most beautiful backyard, they gave us some amazing images to share with you all. It’s great seeing businesses team up like that.
We also featured another really young man who started a company called M Entertainment Group for events. And continuing with the entertainment theme, meet entrepreneur George Baker of ASAP Talent Agency, he knows some pretty impressive people.
The Santa Clarita Economic Development Corporation has two events in 2021 that you might not want to miss. The Santa Clarita Art Commission also talks to us about new art and event opportunities happening in 2021. Our SCV Reel Talk talks about staying home and streaming from home.
With Valentine’s Day coming up it can be really hard to find a gift for that special loved one. Our Fabulous Finds should hit the spot for that special gift.
Speaking of love, in this issue we have our élite Weddings Magazine starting on page 61. We reached out to the community and asked couples who got married/engaged during the pandemic to share their experiences with us. I am so excited to be able to feature mine and Arnold’s own wedding as well as two others that were just as beautiful as ours. We also found eight couples that said yes and hope to feature their weddings in future issues of élite Magazine..
Our columnist, Eve Bushman chats to us about Specialty Drinks and Catering in our valley. We also have an amazing recipe from Larry McClements. It’s a must try for all of you foodies out there.
I really appreciate you all taking the time to read our magazine. Until next time.
