A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – July/August 2022
Wow, we are already in the middle of summer, can you believe that? I hope your summer is going well? This issue has lots of summer fun included. Our cover story is all about an accomplished singer and professional musician who took some good advice from Jay Leno and relocated to Santa Clarita. We can’t wait for you to get to know him a little better. He recently played at The Canyon Club, hopefully you will have a chance to see him sing soon.
Going back to summer vibes, as we all know Henry Mayo cares about our community, so, in this issue they are making sure you stay fit this summer in your own backyard while making things look a little more beautiful!
Logix Financial Services introduces us to a staff member in each issue, and this month we get to learn about Michelle Elliot a financial consultant at the Valencia Bouquet Canyon Branch, say hello to Michelle next time you visit them.
This month we have our Ultimate Gentlemen in Business awards with many amazing people in our community doing the best in their fields. Congratulations to all the winners, and a huge thank you to all of you that vote each time. Our next awards are Ultimate Home & Garden and our Ultimate Kid Activities awards. We encourage you to vote at www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards.
We are pleased to feature a different non-profit in every issue. This month we focus on the WiSH Education Foundation. This organization is near and dear to my heart as I serve on their board. The organization bridges the gap in state education funding when state funding doesn’t meet the needs, they fund student programs that are not funded by other sources and believe that every student deserves the tools for success. They get no outside funding and raise every penny through donations, events, and grants. One hundred percent of dollars raised stay in the Hart District program. It is an honor to serve on this board to help students in our schools.
In each issue of élite Magazine, we feature SCV Reel Talk, and it’s all about filming in the SCV. It always amazes me how much is filmed here.
Catch up with what’s going on at the SCV Economic Development Corporation with President and CEO, Holly Schroeder – this one is a great read.
I don’t know about you, but I love superheroes! I recently met Jiten and his team who put smiles on our kids’ faces by dressing up as superheroes, such a great story inside you won’t want to miss, just look for spider man!
Speaking of superheroes, I feel like that’s the best way to describe our dynamic couple in this issue. Gloria and Bruce Fortine have such a lovely story and they both have beautiful hearts. It’s people like them that make Santa Clarita a great place to live.
Our Perfect Bite Dining Guide looks delicious this month and it makes me hungry just looking at the pictures! We have so many great eateries in our town, stop by one and tell them you saw them in èlite Magazine.
You may know Larry McClements he’s the guy that runs two farmers markets in town. He always provides us with a great recipe for you to try. He made a classic coleslaw, perfect for summer days. I can’t wait to try it myself.
Eve Bushman is our wine columnist and, in this issue she has the latest wine picks from Lodi and Napa. These are places to add to your bucket list. We also have a trip to Santa Barbara with some must tries and a trip to Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo that looks amazing.
Looking for a gift for someone? We have you covered with our Fabulous Finds Gift Guide for some great finds in town.
Do you like art? We have many art galleries in Santa Clarita, but did you see the newest permanent art sculpture in Newhall? Artist Greg Mueller has created a book-inspired bike rack at the Old Town Newhall library, be sure to ride your bike over to the library and park it at this new sculpture.
A spotlight of a new nonprofit is always fun. I had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Director, Syian Wignal, a wonderful man with a great mission and a really cool nonprofit called Real Way Foundation. You will have to read the article to learn more.
As you know real estate in our town is going crazy. We have a ton of houses that the realtors in our magazine are sharing with you. Hopefully this will help you find that perfect home, and the perfect realtor to help you.
It is always an honor to write these notes for you all, I absolutely love doing it and I hope you enjoy reading our magazine. With that being said, we hope you have a wonderful summer and support our advertisers who make this publication possible. So, I would like to give them a big thank you, and to you for reading.
Until Next Time, Alexander Hafizi
