Can you believe it’s Spring? Such a great time of year. The weather starts warming up, the flowers start blooming, and the world becomes a more beautiful place just with the change of the season. As I write these notes, I sit back and I reflect on what has gone on in the last six months to a year, and for me, if you know me, you know I’m heavily involved with several nonprofit organizations in this town. Last year, I was president of JCI Santa Clarita. What a great challenge that was, I loved being able to help the future leaders do great things and be all that they can be. It is such a great group of young individuals. So if you are, or you know someone that is 18 to 40 years old that wants to get involved, let me know and I will connect you. I am also very involved with Circle of Hope, an organization that helps the cancer community in our town. I was so humbled to find out that they nominated me for SCV Man of the Year, there are so many deserving people that were nominated, I don’t know how they pick just two. It is such an honor to even be nominated. The gala is in May so we shall see what happens. I am also on the board of the WiSH Education Foundation, and I have just accepted the role of Vice Chair. I am excited to give back and help the students and teachers of the William S. Hart Union School District. WiSh bridges the gap in funding for students and teachers, and being able to help our youth by having all the tools they need to be successful in school is super rewarding.
Now let’s talk about this issue. Our cover star is an actress, a writer and a travel TV host. I can’t wait for you to read her story. This issue is always one of my favorites. We have so many awards. Our ultimate awards feature the best in Beauty, Bridal, Business, and Fitness. These awards are always so great because they are selected by Santa Clarita residents, our readers, YOU! Thank you so much to the thousands of you that vote every day. Our next awards are for our medical professionals, so stop by our website and cast your vote. We appreciate your support, we also appreciate the support of all of the advertisers that support this magazine without all of you, this would not be possible. So if you’re reading through this issue and you see a business you’re interested in, please give them a call and let them know you saw it in èlite Magazine.
We have a few great closeups in this issue one wrote a children’s book that sounds so sweet, another a film maker who shows us how he navigates through the Hollywood scene. We have a spotlight on Logix who have a plan for birthday milestones and retirement. Our looking back is a sad but beautiful story about Michael Powell a truly fantastic teacher. We also want you to get to know Soroptimist International of Valencia. And we have a story about the amazing BSH Landscape Design Group, if your home is in need of a beautiful landscape, these are the people to call. Speaking of homes, we feature a million dollar listing in the Westridge area that is just divine, check it out in this issue. And if that isn’t what you are looking for we have four realtors that can help you find the house of your dreams, check out our Home Showcase.
Our columnists always provide us with great stories in each issue. Holly Schroeder from the SCV Economic Development Corporation always gets down to business, updating us on all things Santa Clarita. SCV Reel Talk keeps us updated on all the filming going on in our valley. Our SCV History column by Carol Rock shares with us some changes they are making in the near future. Larry McClements always brings us an amazing recipe, in this issue, it’s a potato mac salad, and I can’t wait to try it. Speaking of potatoes, Eve Bushman shared an experience with us about a potato chip extravaganza/wine tasting that sounds so fun.
Have you heard of Two Papas Wines or the Humanity Wine Project? Both have great wines to share and good stories to go along with them. So if you love wine, don’t miss those.
Inside this issue you will find our èlite Weddings Magazine, full of all things bridal. We follow two very different weddings and asked the brides questions about each wedding. Such fun answers. We’ve also dedicated our fabulous finds to all things bridal. Did you know you can have your wedding ceremony at city hall? We have evidence of that in this issue. Have you ever been lucky enought to be a bridesmaid and have an old bridesmaid dress lying around? Well, we have four ways for you to repurpose them in this issue. We even have local caterers for you to find the best of the best. èlite Wedding Magazine is always one of my favorites to put together so I hope you enjoy it. Along with all the stories in this issue. It’s always a pleasure to bring this magazine to you. I hope you love it as much as we do.
Until next time
