A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – May/June 2022
Can you believe summer is right around the corner? This year is flying by. In the last issue I talked about my medical emergency and how I had a long road to recovery, I am excited to tell you that the recovery process has been going great. I am feeling good and ready to take on the world again. That whole ordeal gave me a new perspective on life, in particular for people who work in the medical field, I would like to personally thank them all for doing their very best to help our community live a happy and healthy life which leads us to another great issue highlightening these professionals with our Ultimate Medical Award winners.
While I am thanking people, our sheriff’s department and first responders have done a fabulous job keeping us safe. It’s great to know our valley is the 13th safest city in California. On our cover this month, we are pleased to feature Deputy Richard Murray who has an amazing story about his love for our city. I appreciate people who want to do better and be better in our valley. Speaking of doing good do you know Trenton Irvin? He is a Santa Clarita resident who played in the last Super Bowl on the Bengals team, he also set up a camp in April for kids to have fun playing football. Learn more about him in this issue. Our Dynamic Couple, Harleen and Yuvraj Grewal are trailblazers in our valley. Harleen is a dentist and Yuvraj is a neurologist, they have an amazing love story and it’s a pleasure to share it with you. Another truly great story is Dr. May Tao who is forging a new future in cancer treatments right here in the SCV. Speaking of cancer, we are pleased to feature Circle of Hope, learn their mission and all what they do for cancer patients. We also have a story about City of Hope who are award winners in cancer care right here in our community. Continuing with greatness, did you know that some Oscar-nominated productions were filmed here? Our SCV Reel Talk talks all about it. On June 12, Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley will honor the memory of the late Cheri Fleming with their new event called the Cheri Fleming Shining Star Legacy Award. Learn more about it in this magazine.
We have all of our columnists in this issue who contribute such great articles like exploring art through a different lens, or an acrylic still life demonstration happening May 16. We have a delicious salad recipe from Larry McClements and Eve Bushman teaches us how to throw a good wine night. We have our Perfect Bite Dining Guide for all the amazing eateries in our valley, use #tastescv and tag us @scvelitemagazine when you go to any of those restaurants.
How about some motherly love? Mother’s Day is May 8 so don’t forget to get your mom a special something, we have the perfect gift guide for you with some great ideas. We have also featured some special houses from some of the top realtors in our town. Don’t miss out on all the fantastic things in our magazine. I hope you enjoy reading it and please remember to support the businesses who advertise with us, they make this publication possible.
Look out for our next Ultimate Awards when we will feature our fourth annual Ultimate Gentlemen in Business. Go to our website and start voting today, you can vote every day and thank you to all those that take the time to vote!
Until next time,
Alexander Hafizi
