A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – May/June 2023

Spring is here and that means there’s lots of new things blooming in the Santa Clarita Valley. New positions, new leadership and new honors given to extraordinary people. Please join us in learning more about them and congratulating them!
Speaking of Spring, it brings me so much joy to walk around my neighborhood and see smiling faces while indulging in conversation with neighbors and friends. It makes me realize just how lucky I am to live, work and play in this great community with so many opportunities to live a healthy lifestyle, while being in close proximity to world class healthcare. From dentists to surgeons and every specialty in between; these professionals are right at your door, and combine their years of expertise to increase your quality of life. From my own personal experience i can attest we have the “ultimate” medical professionals and I am so thankful for all that they do! It’s an honor to recognize them in this magazine.
In the picture above you will see my parents, my partner and my mother-in-law. We want to take a moment to highlight the other unsung heroes in our lives. The amazing humans who made us who we are today, who protected us as children, and who are still the best people we know…our parents. With Mother’s Day just around the corner and Father’s day soon after that; be sure to let yours know just how much they mean to you! We wish all the mother’s and father’s a wonderful Mother’s Day on May 14, and a fabulous father’s day on June 18.
We have so many nonprofit events in our town, it’s sometimes difficult to figure out which ones to go to. A few that are near and dear to my heart that you might catch me at are SCV Man & Woman of the Year, Taste of the Town, Hoedown for Hope, Boys & Girls Club Auction and Veg Fest.
I am so grateful to have been nominated by Circle of Hope for SCV Man & Woman of the Year. Just being nominated is a huge honor. The purpose of the Santa Clarita Valley Man & Woman of the Year organization is to highlight the remarkable and selfless work that volunteers accomplish in the Santa Clarita Valley, making our community an excellent place to live and do business.
Taste of the Town is such a fantastic fundraiser for the Child & Family Center. I get hungry just thinking about it. You get to enjoy unlimited samples from Santa Clarita’s finest restaurants, caterers, beer and wine purveyors. Plus a live band and online silent auction…and a few other surprises!
Circle of Hope’s Hoedown for Hope is a good old fashioned hoedown. Get your boots on and come on down for an unforgettable good time! Enjoy a fun day on the farm with a BBQ dinner, scrumptious desserts, live music from multi-bands, line-dancing, beer and wine for sale, silent auction, and other fun activities like axe throwing, archery, a petting zoo, jenga, cornhole, and so many more activities. It will be a day you will never forget and the best part is that the funds raised all go to Circle of Hope who provide emotional, financial, and educational support to cancer patients in our valley.
The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s 51st Annual Benefit Auction is in June. You will enjoy an evening that is sure to be “Out of this World!” . Your support gives local children and teens the hope and opportunity they deserve and can find at the Boys & Girls Club.
And finally Veg Fest. The event will have Vegan comfort food, food trucks, beer and wine, a farmers market, bounce houses, a canned food drive for the homeless, yoga in the park and so much more. And these are just a few of the many events coming up in May and June in our valley. See the calendar of event for more.

Until Next Time,
Alexander Hafizi
