A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – NOV/DEC 2022
Wow this year has flown by! Can you believe it’s already the Holiday Season? We have so much amazing holiday goodness in this issue. But first, our cover star is full of empowerment. Dr. Amanda Woodworth is the Director of Breast Health for Keck Medicine of USC at Henry Mayo Newhall Hosptial, her story is inspiring and we are pleased to feature her on our cover.
Speaking of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, did you know they opened a primary care practice? Also, they have a wonderful upcoming holiday home tour to light up the season, learn more in this issue.
To kick-off the holiday fun, the City of Santa Clarita has their Light Up Main Street event on November 19, and they are encouraging everyone to shop local. Which is something we believe in too. All of the advertisers in our magazine are local businesses that would love to see you. Even our realtors are even sharing local home listings. Our Fabulous Finds is a great way to start shopping for the holidays, we also have a guide for holiday boutiques, so shop until you drop but make sure it’s local!
We have so much love in this issue. Three wonderful love stories that I think you will enjoy reading.
Did you know that LOGIX Smarter Banking is celebrating their 85th year anniversary? How amazing is that. Courtesy of Carol Rock, we have a new column called SCV History, here you will learn about our valley back in the day. Thank you Carol, we are so excited for this new column. We want you to get to know two local nonprofits that are here for good reasons. We have featured Soroptimist International or Greater Santa Clarita Valley and The Baker Family Foundation, both are doing wonderful things in our community and we encourage you to support them. Our SCV EDC column talks about our valley’s economy for 2023, which gives us a little past, present and future that helps us continue with the holiday spirit like A Christmas Carol story.
On another note Taylor Statham is an athlete that saw an opportunity to help our youth by starting Statham Academy. We were happy to learn more about Taylor and his goals.
Our Ultimate Awards for this issue are our dining experts. These winners are the best of the best in our town when it comes to food. Thank you all for voting for them. When you stop by any of these restaurants or bars congratulate them for their win. Our columnist Eve Bushman teaches us about favorite holiday dishes that pair with wine. And Larry McClements gave us a recipe for Paella that the whole family can share and I can’t wait to try this one. Our magazine always has so much to offer, I hope you take a moment to sit back grab a glass of your favorite drink and read some of the fantastic stories in this issue. Thank you for supporting us and if you have a great story to share, just let us know.
Our next Ultimate Awards are for the ladies in town, if you know someone that you would like to nominate for our Ultimate Ladies in Business, go to www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards and add their name, then vote for them every 24 hours.
Happy Holidays,
Alexander Hafizi
