A Message from the Associate Publisher Alexander Hafizi – September/October 2024

by | Aug 27, 2024 | Associate Publisher

As summer fades and fall approaches, I can’t help but feel excited. To me, fall is truly the best season of the year. From the crisp, cooler weather to the breathtaking colors of the landscape, the return of pumpkin spice, stylish outfits, and the all-around cozy atmosphere—it’s simply magical.
Speaking of the best, we’re thrilled to present two categories for our Ultimate Awards in this issue: the Ultimate Home & Garden and Ultimate Kid Activities award winners. As you flip through our magazine, you’ll find an array of deserving winners, all of whom are outstanding businesses right here in our community. These award winners were chosen by you, our readers, through your votes on our website. Don’t miss out—our next voting round for the Ultimate Dining Awards is now open, so head over to our website and cast your vote today.
Did you catch our cover? The lovely Bobbie Stephens graces it at 100 years young. Isn’t that incredible? Her story is nothing short of inspirational.
For even more inspiration, be sure to check out the feature on the Knox-Alexander family—a truly remarkable and talented family, both inside and out. And you won’t want to miss the story of young Avery Rey, who’s running his way to success. This kid is lightning fast!
We also spotlight Alyssa Zackler, a world-class speed puzzler. How amazing is that? Her story is definitely one you’ll want to read.
Another motivating story comes from Alan Petker, who plays a vital role in making the Santa Clarita Master Chorale shine, both in sound and appearance. His dedication is truly commendable.
This month’s nonprofit feature introduces you to the Assistance League, a wonderful organization with a charming resale store on Bouquet Canyon Road. Their work in our community is truly heartwarming, and you can learn more about it in this issue.
Our Meet the Maker feature shines a light on Ultraviolet Devices Inc. (UVDI). It’s always exciting to discover innovative companies right in our own town, and their story is no exception.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’ve put together a special feature highlighting some of the invaluable resources available in our community for those battling cancer. It’s comforting to know that our town offers such robust support.
Have you heard of the Santa Clarita Koi Club? If you’re a fish enthusiast, you’ll find their story fascinating.
Each issue, we highlight the Valley Industry Association, and this month’s article delves into their amazing project, Connecting to Success. Imagine a day filled with interactive seminars led by local business experts, offering students invaluable tips and tricks for navigating the professional world. Be sure to read all about it in this issue.
The City of Santa Clarita contributes two articles in each issue, and this month, they’ve focused on pet adoptions and the Green River Rally—both wonderful stories worth your time.
Have you ever visited Mentryville? This historic town in Stevenson Ranch is rich with history, and we’ve got a feature on it in this issue.
Looking to get out of town? Las Vegas is always a fantastic destination. The ever-knowledgeable Eve Bushman has curated a list of off-the-strip activities that you’ll want to try on your next visit.
And if you’re in the mood for something delicious, Larry McClements shares a recipe for Savory and Spicy Roast Kabocha Squash that looks mouthwateringly good. I can’t wait to try it myself! If you do, don’t forget to tag us @scvelitemagazine.
Our calendar is packed with events happening throughout September and October, so start marking your calendars. I look forward to seeing you all around town!
Until next time,
Alexander Hafzi & Arnold Bryant
