Allen Wolf Navigating Hollywood & Everything in Between

It’s true that Allen Wolf is a filmmaker, author, and podcaster, but more than anything, he’s a storyteller whose sole focus is to share his passion and artistic vision with audiences everywhere. He got his start in entertainment at a very young age – he recalls fond memories of his childhood in Ohio, during which he wrote screenplays and filmed movies with his neighborhood friends.
He studied filmmaking at New York University, then moved out to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of bringing stories to life on the big screen. Then, when his love for telling stories grew and developed further, he started to branch out to other avenues of entertainment, including writing and, later on, podcasting.
“For me, it’s all about engaging with people, with the audience,” he says. “I don’t make films for myself. I want others to experience and love the journey of my characters and stories, coming away happier that they followed along.”
Today, Allen is also the host of “Navigating Hollywood,” a podcast where he interviews successful entertainment professionals about their life stories. He and his wife also mentor entertainment professionals they have met through Navigating Hollywood’s reach.
You might also recognize him as the filmmaker behind “In My Sleep,” a riveting psychological thriller, and “The Sound of Violet,” a timeless rom-com adaptation of Allen’s novel of the same name. Both are acclaimed films that Allen brought to life on the big screen, which is an experience he’s never taken for granted.
Outside of his love for films, writing, and passion projects, Allen is a family man through and through. He’s raising two kids alongside his wife right here in Santa Clarita after moving here in December of 2021. He fell in love with our valley after just passing through following the recommendation of a friend, and now, he deeply appreciates our community.
The Sound of Violet played at the Laemmle in Newhall, and he’s enjoyed a considerable amount of support from local businesses and organizations throughout Santa Clarita who have happily promoted the film.
“Going forward, I want to continue challenging myself as a storyteller and see how much more I can accomplish,” he says. “Larger audiences, expanding my scope as a filmmaker, mentoring filmmakers, there’s a lot I’m looking forward to.”
This coming year, Allen has a lot in store across the entire entertainment spectrum. He has plans for a novel that he can’t talk about just yet, but that he’s excited about nonetheless. There will also be a re-release of “In My Sleep” as a Director’s Cut, alongside a number of other projects percolating.
“This is an industry that requires a lot of perseverance, and it’s highly subjective, but that hasn’t stopped me or slowed me down,” he says. “It’s a marathon and not a race, and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
