An Event-Filled Summer Season in Santa Clarita
The days are starting to feel longer and warmer, so that must mean one thing: summertime in Santa Clarita. Summer in Santa Clarita brings a season of fun and exciting City activities and events that cater to all interests and ages. Whether you’re looking for live music, enriching cultural opportunities, lively block parties or unique ways to beat the heat, just know that you’ll be covered this summer when it comes to a calendar full of exciting and engaging events.
Every second Friday through September from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., head over to the Canyon Country Community Center (18410 Sierra Highway) for an evening filled with new learning experiences at the Celebrate event series. Celebrate showcases a variety of cultural performances, diverse cuisine and interactive activities with a new country featured each month. Not only is Celebrate a fun event to attend, but also an educational experience that promotes understanding and appreciation of the many cultures that make up Santa Clarita.
For those looking for a night on the town with live music, dancing, food trucks and an on-street bar, you may find yourself on Main Street in Old Town Newhall every third Thursday through October for SENSES Block Party, the wildly popular event series that is tailored toward adults. From 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., Main Street will be transformed with a different theme, along with games, activities and music. Cheers, sing and dance the night away at SENSES Block Party!
Have you ever wanted to watch a movie under the stars? This summer, there are several opportunities to do so. First, City Cinemas is back with a great lineup of classics and new favorites! From Toy Story to Barbie, there’s something for everyone here and don’t forget your popcorn! Another opportunity for movie-goers is Float and Flick, where you can watch a movie and swim, all at the same time. On Friday, July 19 at 6:00 p.m., catch Lilo & Stitch at Santa Clarita Pool (27285 Seco Canyon Road) and Shrek at North Oaks Pool (27824 Camp Plenty Road) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. To register for this free event, visit SantaClarita.gov/Seasons.
Concerts in the Park, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, is back this year with an incredible lineup of cover bands that will have you singing and dancing along all evening. Saturday evenings, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Road) from July 6 through August 24, experience some of the best performances you’ve ever seen along with your friends, family and neighbors. With on-site food trucks, claim your spot early for an evening picnic before the real fun begins.
For a unique way to beat the heat, head into The Cube Ice and Entertainment Center (27745 Smyth Drive) every Saturday evening during public skate in June for Neon Nights, where you can skate under the vibrant glow of fluorescent lights. Visit TheCubeSantaClarita.com for more information, and receive a free glow stick upon entry!
With so much to do this summer in Santa Clarita, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the season.
