An Invitation to REMEMBER Some traditions are meant to last
At élite Wedding Magazine, we love the formality and timelessness of printed invitations, personalized table cards and handwritten thank-you cards. However with weddings trending toward individualistic flair and off-the-beaten-path ceremonies, it’s also fun to freshen up tradition with a twist.
WHAT’S TRENDING
1. Typography
The craft, style and arrangement of typeset matter. Typography is more of a tradition than a trend. However, some traditions are meant to stay, and typography is an easy way to add character and personality to your paper products – invitations, save the dates, thank you cards, etc. – without adding yet another element. Play with typography that speaks to you, or ask a professional to help you get there!
2. Watercolor
We are in love with the watercolor trend at élite Weddings. As if formal printed invitations could get any prettier, many couples are now opting to add original watercolor elements to create frame-worthy invitations. Watercolor is an especially nice option for cards that invite your friends and family to be part of your bridal parties.
3. Gold foil
Why not bring the glitz and glamour of your wedding night to your invitations with this shiny new trend? Gold foil is making its way into lettering, color themes, and even envelope liners –a trend unto itself in 2019.
THE PUSH FOR PAPER
1. Handwritten letters are personal.
While it’s not uncommon for people to receive a text of birthday wishes or thanks, there’s nothing better than receiving a thoughtfully chosen card with handwritten sentiment. There’s something sacred about it – it’s so much more personal. People often buy cards they know will lift someone’s spirits or ease their pain. Sending a letter is the next best thing to showing up personally at someone’s door.
2. Handwritten letters require effort.
Compared to typing a text message, writing a letter requires time to compose and mail. Searching for the perfect greeting card or choosing the right stationery, then physically writing your words and stamping and sending your letter, lets the recipient know he or she is worth your time and effort.
3. Handwritten letters are timeless.
Handwritten letters are formal and concrete. My favorite characteristic of the handwritten letter is the fact that you are able to keep, store and cherish the letters you receive.
