Burrtec “We’ll Take Care of it”
As a family-owned company, Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. (Burrtec) prides itself on its mission statement: “We’ll Take Care of It”. Managed by Dennis Verner here in the Santa Clarita Valley, Burrtec is soon to be the City of Santa Clarita’s sole waste collection and management company, and as both a member of our community and the General Manager of Burrtec’s local division, Dennis has a lot to share about some upcoming changes.
Beginning July 1, 2023, the City of Santa Clarita will transition to Burrtec for all of its waste management and recycling needs, and Dennis is excited to share what this will mean for the community. Burrtec’s modern and innovative waste collection measures and high-level of customer service will help usher SCV into a future that’s more climate friendly and people-friendly, too.
“Burrtec has been operating in Santa Clarita for over 20 years,” says Dennis. “We’re just one call or email away, and we’re always happy to help.”
Dennis himself has decades of experience in the waste industry, where he first started out in 1979. Since then, in addition to his duties at Burrtec, he’s been highly-involved in local organizations and community events, including his involvement in the SCV Chamber of Commerce and the SCV Economic Development Corporation. Additionally, he and his wife Pamela, serve as current Chairs for the upcoming 2023 SCV Boys and Girls Club Auction.
This summer, Dennis will be actively working with his team to smoothly transition City of Santa Clarita residents over to Burrtec services. In terms of logistics, part of the change will involve the implementation of new trucks and containers, both of which are equipped with new technology. The Burrtec trucks will have GPS and camera systems to increase both safety and efficiency, and the new garbage, recycling and organics carts will be made of recycled content and include labels that help guide residents on what belongs in each cart. Burrtec’s vehicles are powered by compressed natural gas, which is derived from renewable natural gas, all of which have been cleared by laws intended to cut back on pollution and landfills; with the goal of improving the environment.
The switch to Burrtec comes as a result of Santa Clarita’s request for proposals process to find a waste collection company that’s ready and able to handle the residential and business needs of the city while still remaining compliant with laws and regulations. Beginning in July of this year, Santa Clarita residents will not only receive a new set of collection containers that are compliant with state standards, but also a kitchen food waste pail, which will come with instructions to get started on the new food waste recycling program. Literature will also be sent out to every resident, with information on the changes and what more there is to look forward to once the transition to Burrtec takes place.
Moving forward, Burrtec is ready to handle the waste management needs of the community and take care of the environment, day in and day out.
“Burrtec’s technology and its partners are a huge part of the change taking place this year,” says Dennis. “Their success is our success, and the success of each resident and business in Santa Clarita and we are committed to serving this wonderful community.”
