CARMAN GARCIA – A New Vision for Family Promise: Leading with Heart and Purpose
Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley proudly welcomes Carmen Garcia as its new Executive Director, entrusted with shaping the organization’s strategic vision, overseeing daily operations, and leading resource development efforts. Under her leadership, the organization continues to ensure that its programs meet the growing needs of families facing or at risk of homelessness.
For Carmen Garcia, this role is an opportunity to make a lasting impact in a community that means so much to her. The mission of Family Promise aligns closely with her personal journey, making it an honor to work alongside a dedicated team helping families find stability and hope.
With extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, Carmen Garcia is leading an affiliate of a national organization that integrates shelter, programming, and community engagement. This brings both challenges and opportunities for innovation, particularly in expanding the resource center and interim housing offerings.
One key focus is navigating the increased demand for services while maintaining financial sustainability. Strengthening the development strategy, cultivating donor relationships, and exploring new funding streams are all priorities. Additionally, enhancing operational efficiency and staff capacity is critical as Family Promise continues to grow.
Carmen Garcia’s personal experience with housing instability as a teenager has fueled her passion for helping vulnerable families—especially single parents and children. Each family that walks through the resource center’s doors reaffirms the profound importance of our mission. For her, this is not just a profession; it is a calling.
Family Promise’s holistic, community-based approach sets it apart. Beyond providing shelter, the organization empowers families to regain independence through a model built on dignity, support, and collaboration. Carmen Garcia’s goal is to bring stability, vision, and inspiration to the team while fostering a culture of accountability and empathy—ensuring every staff member feels valued and equipped to do their best work.
As homelessness services evolve toward prevention and economic mobility programs, Family Promise remains committed to integrating wraparound services and data-informed strategies. In the short term, Carmen Garcia is focused on stabilizing operations, strengthening the donor base, and enhancing service delivery. Long-term, she aims to expand housing capacity and build a sustainable model that can be replicated in other communities.
Outside of work, spending time with family is a top priority for Carmen Garcia. Being a parent serves as a grounding force, reinforcing the importance of supporting families with compassion and care. She also enjoys exercising, traveling, and cooking—activities that provide balance and renewal.
For those aspiring to leadership roles, her advice is simple: own your story. Every challenge overcome adds to the strength of a leader. By embracing lived experiences and remaining open to learning, future leaders can make a meaningful impact.
