Celebrating 29 Years of Cowboy Culture in Santa Clarita
Dust off those cowboy boots and saddle up for the event of the year that promises two days filled with Western flair and family-friendly fun. The 29th Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival is back at William S. Hart Park this year, the perfect location to get in touch with our City’s rich Western heritage. On Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13, get ready to celebrate with a unique blend of live cowboy, country, folk and bluegrass music across three stages, a Western shopping adventure, entertainment from Western swing and country line dancing, trick ropers, living history and activities for all ages. Everything the Cowboy Festival has to offer will create an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
As you walk under the Cowboy Festival sign and into William S. Hart Park, you’ll be dropped right into the Old West. Festivalgoers left and right, dressed head-to-toe in their best Western garb will provide you a glimpse into the life of a cowboy. If you’re looking for a place to start, there are numerous interactive activities to partake in that will get you into the Cowboy Festival spirit. Try your hand at hatchet throwing, pan for some gold (who knows, you may just get lucky!) or show the mechanical bull who’s boss. If you’re still having a tough time imagining what life was like in the Old West, the living history experiences will do the trick. Gather ‘round the forge and get your name stamped onto a horseshoe by a real blacksmith, or stop for a chat with The New Buffalo Soldiers, who bring their horses to the Cowboy Festival to tell their story and share the contributions of black men on the American Western frontier.
Throughout the day, don’t forget to check the artist lineup schedule, with longtime favorites to new faces performing their best cowboy, country, folk and bluegrass for you across three stages: The Mane Stage, The Whistle Stop Stage and Hart Hall. From harmonious accordion solos to famous fiddle players, the live entertainment the Cowboy Festival offers is something attendees travel across the globe to experience. If you’re feeling inspired and notice your boots tapping along to the rhythm, join the Bootscoot Bosses Line Dance Crew and learn new dances every hour throughout each day. Then, be sure to show off what you learned at Dancing into the Dusk from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., equipped with line dance instructions, and a DJ spinning the best mixes.
All of this fun will surely work up an appetite. Definitely come hungry for some tasty favorites like the Rotary Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s famous Dutch oven peach cobbler, smoked BBQ and a variety of other food options to keep you going from dusk ‘til dawn. Quench your thirst with old-fashioned soda pop or raise a glass to the cowboy life with a quality brew from Lucky Luke Brewery, the official brewery of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival.
There is so much more to share about the 29th Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, including the immersive Western-ware selection to shop throughout Sutlers Row, The Barnyard for animal lovers, attractions and more. To learn more about the Cowboy Festival, visit CowboyFestival.org.
