Crafted Through Resilience: Ward Ventanilla and the Rise of Virtuoso Training Club
Ward Kelvin Ventanilla is a Neurorecovery Specialist and the passionate founder of Virtuoso Training Club—a growing community rooted in discipline, resilience, and the belief that movement is a blessing.
Ward’s journey began during a time of personal uncertainty. After college, overwhelmed by choices and expectations, he turned to running as a way to create structure amidst the chaos. Inspired by David Goggins’ Can’t Hurt Me, Ward trained for his first half-marathon, eventually inviting friends to join him. What started as a casual run club evolved into something much deeper. He named it Virtuoso Training Club—a tribute to those who relentlessly pursue mastery in their craft, not for perfection, but for the love of the grind.
Ward’s definition of a “Virtuoso” is clear: someone crafted through resilience, who does hard things not just for personal gain, but to uplift others. That philosophy is at the core of everything he does, from the club’s early morning runs to the monthly marathons he commits to—each one raising awareness and funds for paralysis recovery through the Abilities Recovery Fund.
Working at Abilities Recovery Center in Van Nuys changed Ward’s life. Witnessing the daily fight of his clients—many of whom are paralyzed—completely shifted his perspective on fitness and health. “I used to train just to look good or be strong,” he shares. “Now, I train because I can. I train for those who can’t.”
The lessons from his clients and the memory of his late grandfather, who passed away after a preventable injury in the Philippines due to lack of access to care, fuel his mission. His goal is to make movement more accessible, more intentional, and more celebrated in the community.
Santa Clarita has embraced Ward’s vision. Local sponsors like @thermalhorizons, @carbon_window_tint, @lululemon Valencia, @iliessentials, and @dustdigitalmarketing have supported his cause—donating gear, showing up, and helping grow a movement that’s as much about community as it is about fitness. Through social media, training meetups, and relentless consistency, Ward continues to inspire others to appreciate their health and move with gratitude.
Looking ahead, Virtuoso Training Club plans to expand beyond SCV with city pop-ups, new merch, and larger fundraising efforts—all while staying grounded in its mission: to challenge, connect, and inspire people to live with intention.
Whether it’s his signature fruit bowl post-run or clocking in a 3:38 time at the Orange County Marathon just six days after running Big Sur, Ward embodies the spirit of someone who doesn’t just talk the talk—he runs the miles, too.
To support the mission, join the movement at @virtuosotrainingclub.
As Ward often says: Stay grateful, stay blessed.
