Follow the Wedding: A Love Story Rooted in Adventure: Ginger & Louie’s Unforgettable Wedding
For Ginger Oliver and Louie Nicholas, love has always been an adventure—one that has taken them across the globe, from cherished family traditions in the U.S. to building a life together in New Zealand. After five years of love and laughter, their journey led them to a breathtaking wedding in Tauranga, New Zealand, on February 16, 2024.
Their love story took a pivotal turn during a visit home while on their annual family camping trip to Shaver Lake. As they wandered through McKinley Grove, a place filled with childhood memories, Louie took a moment to make one more. As Ginger turned around to take in the beauty of a giant sequoia, she found Louie down on one knee. With her family witnessing the moment from above, she barely let him get a word in before exclaiming, “YES!”
Over the years, their shared experiences have been nothing short of extraordinary. One of their favorite memories together is an unforgettable road trip across New Zealand’s South Island, where a sea kayaking tour in Kaikoura became a moment they’ll treasure forever. As they paddled along the serene waters, a pod of dolphins followed their kayaks, leaping and playing beside them—an experience that cemented their bond even deeper.
For their wedding, Ginger and Louie embraced a non-traditional, gothic-inspired style that reflected their personalities perfectly. The ceremony was officiated by their dear friend Tyler, who, fittingly, is also their Dungeon Master in Dungeons & Dragons. As the mastermind behind the planning and florals, Ginger ensured that every detail came to life just as she had envisioned. Chic Beauty’s Kylie from Tauranga took care of both her hair and makeup, while Bluebells Cakery crafted a stunning cake to complement the celebration.
Through it all, the couple was surrounded by loved ones, including those who made the long journey from Santa Clarita to New Zealand to witness their special day. “We were unbelievably fortunate that so many people from back home traveled to celebrate our love with us,” Ginger shares. “We want to send them a huge thank you for making the day so special.”
With Louie’s kind and calm soul and Ginger’s brilliant mind leading the way, their love story is one of adventure, laughter, and deep admiration. From barista creations to caring for large animals, their journey together continues to be as beautifully unique as their wedding day—filled with love, meaning, and a touch of magic.
