Henry Mayo Fully-Opened for Elective Surgeries and Other Procedures
Effective Monday, March 1, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital fully-opened for elective surgeries and other elective procedures.
In mid-December the California Department of Public Health ordered hospitals in our area to stop performing elective surgeries. This was done to ensure hospitals had sufficient staff and beds to care for the large surge of COVID-19 patients who needed care. By following stay-at-home recommendations, wearing masks, and taking other precautions, you and other members of our community have helped sharply reduce the number of COVID-19 patients at Henry Mayo and other hospitals. Henry Mayo thanks the community for all it has done.
Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, our physicians and staff members have followed strict protocols to keep our patients safe. We continue to follow these rigorous safety procedures. Those coming to Henry Mayo for elective procedures are tested for COVID-19 before their scheduled procedure dates. During and after all procedures strict infection control practices are followed, including not allowing visitors (Pending guidance from public health authorities, we hope to allow at least limited visitation in the near future).
If you have a surgical or other procedure you have been putting off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage you to contact your physician to get back on track. Also, if you have a medical condition that requires immediate attention, please do not hesitate to come to our Emergency Department, where rigorous processes are in place to ensure the safety of every patient.
We look forward to helping you on your path to wellness. Most of all, rest assured that, whatever your medical needs are, you will be Safe in Our Care.
