Nestled along the Santa Clara River and Highway 126, sits a small historic town called Piru.  The founder of the town that was once inhabited by the Tataviam Indians was David C. Cook.  Mr. Cook built the Newhall Mansion in 1890 as a token of affection for his wife.
Otherwise known as the Cook Mansion or Piru Mansion, the Newhall Mansion is a historical landmark, and rightfully so.

It exudes beauty and grace, elegance and extravagance, and is one of the most fascinating places I have visited.  Its charm sweeps you off your feet and whisks you away to another place and time.   Whilst most old mansions feel dated like a discarded remnant of the past, the Newhall Mansion is vibrant and alive, much like it was 1900 and newly built.
Opulence and historical authenticity aren’t burdened by an old vibe, and over the last century, its Victorian elegance has remained.
The Newhall Mansion has been shown in numerous films, television shows and commercials, yet the quiet agricultural community upon where it resides is truly an enchanting. The mansion, which sits atop a hill, has had several owners throughout its hundred plus year existence, has withstood a major fire and two earthquakes and in 2013, the current owners completely transformed the historical landmark, adding modern amenities, lush gardens and beautiful décor.
Upon entering the wrought-iron gates, a citrus grove awaits with a luscious green landscape and fountain lining the front of the mansion.  The mansion is breathtaking both day and night, surrounded by nature’s beauty, as if it were straight out of a fairy tale, complete with a stone tower,
wraparound veranda and picturesque mountain views.
Magnificence and luxury lie ahead in the 12,000 square foot, four level estate fit for royalty.  Each of the eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms are intricately detailed with antique charm and artistic restorations.  Its ballroom boasts stained-glass windows with a magnificent view, making it for the perfect portrait for any bride and groom to be.
While three levels may be above ground, one lies below…the mystical

and ever so whimsical Tavern, an underground man-cave whose circular stone entry is reminiscent of a castle.  Complete with a flat screen television, custom redwood bar, its ambiance makes it the perfect setting for a cocktail reception, bachelor party or rehearsal dinner.
While beauty lies within, the backyard of this royal estate is nothing short of perfection.  A tiled courtyard perfect for dining or gathering under the stars, a fire pit and lavish swimming pool with white cabanas, will make you feel as if you are royalty.  Specialty lighting throughout the grounds adds a special touch of elegance and magic as the sun sets on this piece of paradise.
Surrounded by nature and elegance, the historic and charming Newhall Mansion is available for tours for prospective clients by appointment.  Not only is its beauty breathtaking, but it makes for the perfect venue for your perfect day of wedded bliss.
