With the transition of her practice to Northland Hearing, Nola ensures continuity, leaving behind a capable team—comprising adept front office staff, skilled management, and seasoned hearing aid professionals. Dr. John Shim, meticulously groomed over two years, assumes the helm, upholding Advanced Audiology’s ethos. Every patient receives tailored care, addressing individual hearing needs. Nola’s journey began with a bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of Hartford in 1975. She initially taught children with diverse disabilities until 1981. Pursuing her passion for Audiology, she earned a master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach, in 1982. Over 40 years in Los Angeles County, 38 devoted to the Santa Clarita Valley, her impact soared. Director of Audiology at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Van Nuys and later establishing Advanced Audiology—her business burgeoned into one of the region’s largest and most successful practices. Her teaching nurtured many budding audiologists, expanding her staff to 12 by 2021.
Nola’s philanthropic spirit illuminated her path, aiding numerous causes, including breast cancer support, Alzheimer’s, veteran support, education initiatives, and substantial contributions to community institutions like the new senior center. Her endeavors earned accolades, including “St. Nola” from Senator Scott Wilk and multiple awards for her business acumen.
Advanced Audiology mirrors Nola’s philosophy—individualized care, transforming lives through improved hearing and communication. Their commitment extends to free community screenings to educate people about the importance of hearing and matched the number of free screenings to the year it was, surpassing 2020 screenings in that year, earning recognition as a Community Champion and esteemed accolades from various chambers and publications.
