If Everyone Won One, Everyone Would Be Won – Win 1 Church
Pastor Debra Stallworth’s life journey is shaped by her strong faith in God, and by her family roots in the church. “My father is a Bishop, and I married a Pastor. I guess you could say I was destined for ministry.”
A California native, Debra has lived all over the state and moved to the Santa Clarita Valley with her family in 2004. Theyinstantly fell in love with the community. God was beginning tounfold His master plan for Debra’s life and ministry.
After the move, she continued working as a successful hair stylist in West Hollywood until one day during her long commute, Debra knew it was time to make a move and build her business in Santa Clarita. She told her husband she was quitting her job in West Hollywood. “He asked if I was crazy, but I knew this was the place I was supposed to be.”
In just a few months, her business began to grow. One of her new clients encouraged her to start a ministry. She was not interested because her husband was already pastoring a church in LA. But not long after, she attended a church conference and a Pastor spoke these words to her, “God told me He chose you, and you need to choose yourself.” Debra knew immediately she had to start a women’s support group. Eight days later Win 1 Woman was birthed. They met every week and as the group grew, women began asking Debra to perform baptisms and host Bible Study.
“I saw there was a great need, so I encouraged my husband to open Win 1 in Valencia. The first service was November 16, 2014. In June the following year, her husband suffered a heart attack. The doctors gave him 6 months to live. But God had a different plan.
“Through prayer and faith my husband is still with us and working on his health. He is under evaluation for the transplant list awaiting a new heart and kidney.”
Debra says with the support of family, friends, and members of Win 1, she made it through that tough time.
Two years after Win 1 opened, Debra was ordained as the Head Pastor. “We have an amazing children’s ministry and an audio/visual team. We’re connecting with the community through events like our Women’s Conferences, and Easter and Christmas productions. Our services are on Facebook and YouTube, Bible Study is via Zoom on Thursdays and we hold weekly prayer via conference call and the social media app Clubhouse.” Win 1 is ready to expand its outreach by connecting with local non-profits to serve those in need.
Pastor Debra is grateful to serve the community and believes her move here was not by chance, but by God’s design. “Thank you for allowing me to share my journey. I’m inviting you to join usat Win 1.”
