In Loving Memory of Cheri Fleming 1951-2020
“I only hope that I was able to impart a fraction of the wisdom and love to others as they bestowed on me.”
– CHERI FLEMING
It is with a heavy heart that we write this! We are so saddened to hear the news about Cheri Fleming and our deepest condolences go out to the Fleming family. We have known Cheri and her husband Don for many years and have some of the fondest memories with them. Cheri is a great woman and has always been a shining light to her friends and family. Over the past 30 years we have been in the Santa Clarita Valley we have watched this community grow and Cheri has been instrumental in making it what it is today. A true philanthropist and businesswoman her efforts have helped so many reach their own success in life.
In 1997, Cheri and Don purchased the Acura dealership and took it from being one of the lowest ranking businesses to one of the top selling dealerships in the country. In true entrepreneurial spirit, they combined their skills and personable nature to create a successful enterprise that is still creating friendships amongst their customers. With her success, Cheri has always had a calling to give back to the community.
Cheri joined Soroptimist International in the late ‘90s because she believed in their mission and she has been a major influence in creating better outcomes for women and girls all over the world, even sitting as a Delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women from 2009 to 2017. As a woman on the rise, she has chaired many events and fundraised for countless organizations to include the Boys & Girls Club, American Cancer Society, Sheil R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center and Child and Family Center Foundation and more. For her endeavors and impressive service for helping others, Cheri was awarded the title of Woman of the Year in 2004. She has been known for being a long-time supporter of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation and College of the Canyons, receiving many awards for her service and dedication. In 2018 Cheri and Don were recognized and received COC’s Silver Spur Award, a community service award for their involvement in higher education.
Cheri’s commitment to community and dedication to growth has made her known in Santa Clarita for having one of the biggest and kindest hearts. Cheri and Don have received many awards for their service to community and unique business practices that have created a legacy for years to come.
We have lost a hero and inspiration but gained an angel. May she rest in peace we will miss her!
