It’s All About Caring – Gloria & Bruce Fortine
Throughout the course of their 24-year marriage, Gloria and Bruce Fortine have remained loyal and committed to not just each other, but their community, too. After first meeting at a non-profit charity event all those years ago, Gloria and Bruce hit it off from the start; it became apparent fairly quickly that they were two people destined to share their love with one another through their passion for giving back and uplifting the people around them.
Both Gloria and Bruce have amassed an impressive list of accomplishments here in our valley. Gloria has been honored time and time again for her service to Santa Clarita, through awards such as her 2018 SCV Woman of the Year accolade and her receipt of the Ultimate Ladies in Business Community Leader award.
She’s also served as a Governing Board Member of both the William S. Hart School Board and Castaic Union School District, which hold a special place in her heart, having grown up in these same schools.
Bruce’s list of accomplishments is just as inspiring. He, too, is a born and raised SCV native, and he’s spent time as a member of the original Board of Trustees at College of the Canyons, as well as his years with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Anti-Gang Task Force here in Santa Clarita.
Bruce also comes from a military background, having served in the U.S. Army as a Special Agent for Counterintelligence between 1961 and 1964. He’s certified as an official Marine Corps Ambassador, and works alongside Gloria to celebrate their community and keep the compassion going through their everyday efforts.
More recently, Bruce was honored at the Silver Spur Celebration by College of the Canyons, which stands as a testament to his passion for education and leadership in our valley.
“Service to community is what defines us – it’s our calling,” says Gloria. “We have a deep commitment to public service and volunteerism; it’s a big part of our lives, and a source of inspiration.”
Together, Gloria and Bruce intend to live each day to the fullest, with a special interest in traveling and networking with others who share their same interest in philanthropy and service.
“Gloria cares about her family, friends, and fellow man,” says Bruce. “She’s beautiful, caring, and professional.”
Similarly, Gloria has plenty to say about her husband’s dedication to their work.
“Bruce is passionate, affectionate, and considerate,” she says. “He truly cares about people – he loves his family, he’s always willing to listen … he’s my Silver Fox!”
The future is bright for the Fortines, and they’ve got lots in store for the years ahead of them. Though they’ve spent over two decades together already, the love and the excitement never stops, and to them, that’s the best part of their marriage.
“We’re fortunate to live in a community that has so many dedicated volunteers and leaders,” says Bruce. “That’s what makes Santa Clarita so great.”
