Light Up Main Street Experience the Magic
The long hot days of summer are fading into the crisp, pumpkin-spice scented days of autumn, which means…holiday decorations are soon to follow, marking the return of the most joyful season of the year. The City’s streets and shop windows start to shimmer with festive décor, setting the scene for a season filled with togetherness and cherished family traditions. This can only mean one thing: Light Up Main Street is right around the corner!
For those new to this unforgettable experience, Light Up Main Street, presented by DrinkPAK, serves as Santa Clarita’s unofficial kickoff to the winter holiday season. This year’s celebration will take place on Saturday, November 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. This festive night promises family fun, entertainment and the kind of magic that transforms Old Town Newhall into a scene straight from your favorite holiday movie.
Imagine strolling down Main Street, bundled in your coziest scarf and mittens as holiday music fills the air with festive fun across all five blocks, featuring food trucks, live entertainment, photo opportunities, kids’ activities and holiday shopping. This is the only night of the year where you’ll see 30 tons of snow on Main Street, inviting you in to the Snow Zone to build a snowman and make snow angels. Enter the Grinch-tacular Whoville Celebration, where you’ll meet the Grinch and take a photo in his sleigh! For the kids, explore their creative side and visit the Elves’ Arts & Crafts Workshop and enjoy the excitement of inflatable slides, bounce houses and obstacle courses in the Polar Playground. If all of this isn’t enough, test your skills and win prizes at the Candy Cane Carnival, fully equipped with classic games, such as ring toss, bottle knockdown and balloon darts.
You’ll want to secure a good spot at the Lyons Stage by 5:30 p.m. to witness the magic as Main Street comes to life in a brilliant display of lights. Located on the intersection of Main Street and Lyons Avenue in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Library Branch, the tree-lighting ceremony will be the focal point of the evening’s entertainment. You can’t miss it, the Lyons Stage will be right next to a stunning 23-foot Christmas tree and during the tree-lighting ceremony, the Santa Clarita City Council will flip the switch to illuminate thousands of sparkling lights that dance on the beautifully decorated tree, as well as up and down Main Street, making for one spectacular sight.
The night doesn’t end there! Once the dazzling lights are turned on, the party continues with live music across two stages and enough shopping, activities and dining to keep you and your family busy until 8:00 p.m. Light Up Main Street isn’t just an ordinary event, it’s a cherished tradition that captures the magic of the holidays and reminds every one of the joy found in spending time with loved ones. This evening is guaranteed to leave all of us in the holiday spirit, ready to embrace the wonder of the season ahead. For more information about Light Up Main Street, visit OldTownNewhall.com.
