Light Up Main Street
Every year around this time, a little extra pep can be seen in people’s steps. There is a sense of magic in the air, and the scents of pine and cinnamon fill homes as the glow of holiday lights illuminates neighborhoods. One of Santa Clarita’s most cherished traditions is the official kickoff to the holiday season. This year, Light Up Main Street, presented by DrinkPAK, returns Saturday, November 21, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Old Town Newhall.
Mark your calendars and check them twice because there is so much happening that you won’t want to miss! The City Council will once again lead the countdown in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Branch for the annual tree-lighting ceremony at approximately 5:30 p.m., one of the most memorable moments of the evening. Main Street will come alive as tens of thousands of decorative lights illuminate five blocks of Old Town Newhall. With festive displays and countless opportunities for family photos, the event creates a welcoming environment where residents can gather and celebrate the start of the holiday season. Families can also meet Santa and capture the magic of the evening with a professional holiday photo, presented by Infiniti of Valencia.
As you walk down Main Street, you will be transported into a winter wonderland filled with activities and entertainment. Musical performances from local performing arts groups will take over the Main Stage, filling the evening with holiday cheer. Stop by Elves’ Crafts Corner to create handmade holiday treasures, write a heartfelt letter to Santa, presented by The Rodriguez Agency at State Farm, or make a snow angel in 20 tons of snow at the Snow Zone, presented by Snow Orthodontics. If you are looking for some puppy cuddles, stop by Santa Paws, presented by RE/MAX, to take holiday photos with therapy dogs dressed in their festive best. The City is also proud to partner with business sponsors, Logix Federal Credit Union and Henry Mayo Newhall, adding to the festivities along Main Street.
If you’re looking to get ahead on your holiday shopping, Light Up Main Street has just the place. Stroll through the Maker’s Marketplace, where handcrafted goods and one-of-a-kind gifts from local artisans will be available for purchase. Light Up Main Street also plays an important role in supporting Old Town Newhall’s many local boutiques, restaurants and businesses. Whether you are looking for the perfect outfit, a sweet treat or a gift for the yogi in your life, you’ll be sure to find something for everyone. This year, there is even more reason to shop local as the City expands its Open Rewards program to Old Town Newhall, giving residents more opportunities to support local businesses while earning rewards along the way. The expansion will connect participating businesses to the growing Open Rewards network, encouraging shoppers to discover new local favorites, make purchases close to home and earn cash-back rewards at the same time. For more information about Open Rewards and how to get started, visit ThinkSantaClarita.com/Open-Rewards.
Light Up Main Street is more than the start of the holiday season. It is a celebration of the community spirit that makes Santa Clarita so special. This year, the tradition carries even greater meaning as our community continues to rally around the Old Town Newhall businesses affected by the August fire. By dining, shopping and celebrating locally, we can Show Up for Old Town Newhall while bringing neighbors together for an evening filled with joy, connection and holiday cheer. Light Up Main Street is free and family-friendly. For more information, visit www.OldTownNewhall.com/Events/Light-Up-Main.
