Though Whitening Lightning began as a small mobile teeth-whitening service in the Santa Clarita Valley, the business quickly turned into a million dollar success in just a few short years.
“Our whitening pens were such a huge hit with the local folk,” states Jennifer Gerard, “that I thought, ‘Why not sell the pens?’” Enticed by the idea of making money selling her product while at home in pajamas with her dog by her side, Jennifer created the internet based web stores.
“We offer a wide range of teeth whitening products in both peroxide based and natural formulas,” states the young entrepreneur. Last month, Jennifer launched her new cosmetic brand, Gerard Cosmetics. “Our mission is to create cosmetic products for the average person who is not an expert makeup artist. Our products are easy to apply, always innovative, and are already a huge sensation worldwide.”
Jennifer’s business philosophy is about building lasting relationships with customers and is contingent upon the enthusiasm with which you serve them. “It is not just about having a great product, people want to feel valued, and we strive to show our appreciation for our customers at every turn.”
“We are the American dream,” Jennifer continues. “I started this company with $3000 only a few short years ago and am truly grateful how God has blessed our business to be a multi-million dollar company. I want people to know that if it can happen for me, it can happen for them.”
Having moved to the SCV in 1979 and attended elementary, junior high, high school and college in this valley, it’s no surprise that Jennifer gives back to the community that supported her. In May, Whitening Lightning will serve as this year’s title co-sponsor for the popular Child & Family Center’s Taste of the Town. “There are so many local organizations doing great work and we love supporting them in every way we possibly can, and the work that the Child & Family Center does in this valley is nothing short of amazing. They intervene at the most critical time of a child’s life to set them on the right course, often saving lives.” Jennifer continues, “I love this valley and the people in it…It is my privilege to be blessed enough to give back.”
