One Story One City 2026: Where Stories Meet Music

by | Feb 23, 2026 | City of Santa Clarita

In Santa Clarita, we take pride in building a city where people feel connected. That connection does not always come from big moments. It often starts in places that feel familiar, like your local library, and with something simple, like a story you can talk about with someone else.
That is the idea behind One Story One City, hosted every year by the Santa Clarita Public Library. Each March, the Library invites the community to read the same book and brings the story to life through a lineup of engaging programs designed to spark connection and conversation. Some participants join because they love reading. Others come looking for something local and meaningful to do. Either way, One Story One City offers a simple and welcoming way to connect with the community. This year, the Library invites adults to read The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce.
This year’s program begins with a unique blend of literature and live music. The Music Shop: A Literary Listening Experience will take place at The MAIN on Friday, March 6, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The evening features a musical review performed by the Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra, with a quartet bringing to life song selections referenced in this year’s One Story One City book. The performance offers residents a fresh and immersive way to experience the story while connecting with one another through music and shared storytelling.
If you prefer conversation in a more relaxed setting, Books and Brews offers an easy entry point. Taking place at Lucky Luke Brewing on Wednesday, March 18, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., adults will have a comfortable space to discuss the book, hear different perspectives and spend time with other community members. Books and Brews offers a limited number of spots, so make sure to register online at SantaClaritaLibrary.com/Events
As March moves forward, the Library shifts from listening and discussion to participation. The Right Note: A Community Drum Circle takes place at the Old Town Newhall Library Branch on Saturday, March 28, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. This program welcomes all skill levels. People show up, follow the rhythm and create a shared music experience.
The month closes with a calmer experience focused on wellness. Acoustic Therapy takes place at the Valencia Library Branch on Sunday, March 29, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. In a meditative atmosphere, participants will focus on mental well-being while listening to the relaxing sounds produced by singing bowls.
One Story One City is all about community and participation. Come to one program, bring a friend or show up on your own and meet someone new. You will support your local library, spend time in your community and leave with new experiences. To find out more about other events taking place during One Story One City, visit City.sc/OSOC.
