Santa Clarita International Film Festival
Presented by The Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie Charitable Foundation. Every year, the Santa Clarita International Film Festival is a nonprofit that brings together the best of the best – independent filmmakers, producers, and movie buffs come together to put on an event that not only gives the community a place to gather and celebrate film, but gives back to it, too.
Through their community web series, MySCV.life, SCIFF highlights community-based stories with a human interest that includes nonprofits, local businesses, and the day-to-day adventures of people right here in our community.
“MySCV.life strives to tell the story of Santa Clarita and the people who live here, one small business, nonprofit, and entrepreneur at a time,” says Lisa DeSouza, the founder and executive director of SCIFF.
SCIFF offers volunteer opportunities as well as sponsorship spaces for local businesses who are interested in partnering up to reach the greater Santa Clarita community. After the difficult past year, the festival is more than happy to accept all the help it can get as they prepare for the official event in December.
The festival itself is a testament to the teamwork and cooperation within the filmmaking and entrepreneurial industries here in Santa Clarita. From start to finish, SCIFF is an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the work of filmmakers, musicians, and comedians (plus everyone behind the scenes) for years to come.
“The way the community has come together to support and work together to make this happen tells me that there’s a real hunger for something like this,” says Lisa.
As she puts it, SCIFF and MySCV.life are all about connection, community, and conversations. The goal is to bring together members of our community to bond over the incredible filmmaking industry that plays such a significant role in SCV, and this year’s festival will do just that.
“It is truly humbling and overwhelming to see so many people come together to make this happen, and we haven’t even launched yet!” says Lisa. “I can only imagine what it means for the future of the festival and what it will mean for the City of Santa Clarita. Great things are on the horizon!”
