Sonographer Hillary Ayala A Journey of Empathy, Resilience and Lifesaving Diagnoses

Starting out, Hillary’s empathy overflowed, intertwining her emotions with her work. Witnessing a fetal demise during a scan would leave her devastated for days. But with time, she learned to compartmentalize, not diminishing her empathy but balancing it with professional detachment.
Her career boasted milestones—ARDMS certifications in BR, OB, ABDOMEN, and the challenging RVT. Each certification was a testament to her perseverance and dedication.
Balancing work and personal life seamlessly, Hillary found solace in working at Tower Imaging, mere minutes away from her daughter’s school. The proximity gave her a reassuring closeness to her family, a blend that she cherished.
The seismic shift came with the onset of Covid. Hillary and her team found themselves at the forefront, navigating through uncertainty as protocols altered by the hour. Despite fear lingering in the air, her dedication to her job remained unwavering.
Reflecting on her journey, Hillary acknowledges the defining moments—the joy of a diagnosis aiding in saving a life felt like the most prestigious award she could receive.
Her definition of success mirrors her fulfilling life—a loving family and friendships held dear, coupled with the respect of radiologists and patients alike. For Hillary, success wasn’t just a professional feat; it was the amalgamation of a career she adored and a personal life rich with love and companionship.
Beyond her accolades and professional accomplishments, Hillary cherishes the relationships she built with radiologists throughout her career. Their mentorship and guidance sculpted her into the skilled professional she is today.
Married to Ramon with daughter Isabella and stepson Sebastian, her home was completed by the presence of her furry companions, Nacho the dog and Benny the cat.
As her story unfolds, Hillary remains grateful for her journey—a fulfilling career, a supportive workplace, and the knowledge that she was contributing to the well-being of others.
