The Life and Legacy of Rick Pratt – “The Man, the Myth, the Legend.”
It’s a phrase that could easily sum up Rickey Nolan Pratt—and one that would have surely made him laugh. For those who knew Rick, it was more than just a lighthearted saying. It was the truth. He lived life fully, loved deeply, and gave generously, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and connection.
Born August 18, 1951, in Southern California, Rick grew up in Glendale, graduating from Hoover High School, where his athleticism shone on the basketball court and baseball field. His talent took him to California State University Northridge, where he played baseball for the Matadors and the Dodger’s college farm team. Later, he coached Connie Mack league baseball, mentoring young athletes—some of whom would go on to play professionally. A gifted golfer as well, Rick achieved a lifelong dream in 1998 by competing in the California Amateur Open at Spanish Bay and Pebble Beach.
Rick’s career took him in yet another direction—spending 30 years as a Grip in the film industry. His work on feature films and television shows carried him across the country and around the world, filling his life with unforgettable experiences and countless stories to share.
But there was more to Rick than athletics and film sets. He was a passionate winemaker, founding Two Papas Wines and crafting award-winning vintages that became the centerpiece of many family gatherings. Cooking and sharing a meal—always paired with one of his wines—was one of his greatest pleasures.
Rick also served proudly as a U.S. Marine Corps reservist, embodying the values of discipline and service throughout his life.
Of all his adventures, however, nothing brought Rick more joy than his family. Married to his beloved wife Teresa for 48 years, he was a devoted husband, father to Lauren (Ben) and Nolan (Dana), and the proud “Papa” to five grandchildren—Benjamin, Jack, Boden, Cameron, and Alexis. He is also survived by his brother, Michael, and will be warmly remembered by countless friends.
Rick passed away on July 20, 2025, at age 73, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, achievements, and memories. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him—and joyfully welcomed by loved ones who went before him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Circle of Hope at circleofhopeinc.org, an organization providing support to those fighting cancer.
Rick Pratt’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and love. His booming laughter, generous heart, and boundless spirit will live on—in every memory shared, every glass raised, and every dream pursued without hesitation.
