The Newest Face in Acting Zander Grable
For most high school teenagers, the weekends and nights are a time to rest and relax. After a week of classes and homework, most teens take time to hang out with friends or play Fortnite in their spare moments. I’m sure you remember being 17, and feeling like the world was ending when you missed a touchdown and lost the big game, or were dumped by your prom date, who was going to tell you it wasn’t? You were focused on hanging out with your friends and not falling asleep during tests, worrying about bills and jobs were a problem for future you. But for local high school student Zander Grable, his thoughts drift entirely elsewhere.
Since the age of six, Zander has been fascinated by acting and film. When his sister started acting in local theater productions, Zander was eager to follow her footsteps into the limelight. He loved being the comedian and making everyone around him burst into laughter, a welcome addition to any set. Even as a child, he developed a talent for immersing himself fully into a role to become any character desired. Mainly he worked in theater productions and short films, but growing up in Oklahoma didn’t provide many avenues for Zander to thrive in the entertainment industry. When the family found an opportunity to move across country to sunny California, they jumped at the chance to raise their children in the film capital of the world.
Once the family officially settled down in the Santa Clarita Valley in 2017, Zander was able to start auditioning and booking roles, quickly making a name for himself as a talented up-and-coming actor. As well as jumpstarting his career, Zander also started attending junior high school and continued acting in short films. Around this time, he began developing his athletic skills, playing basketball, kickboxing, and surfing. Junior high was rough for many people, and a switch in schools can leave teens feeling isolated or depressed (take it from the author who switched from private to public school around this same age); but not Zander. He took the change in environment as a blessing, leading to amazing opportunities on the horizon. If he struggled with auditions or making new friendships, it didn’t last very long. Soon enough California was starting to feel like home.
2019 was a big year for Zander Grable. Instead of preparing for the imminent doom on the horizon that would-be Covid-19 (which we all should have probably been doing but hindsight is 2020; get it?), he landed two major roles in big budget productions. The first was Smuggling in Suburbia, a Lifetime television film about a young daughter accidentally caught up in an illegal diamond-smuggling operation where he played the part of her ailing brother, Peter. For the second role, Zander scored a part in Quentin Tarantino’s second highest grossing film to date, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. As well as the film credits, he appeared on the first season of ABC’s Stumptown which premiered in November of 2019.
As a high school senior now, Zander enjoys playing football and hosting the Good Morning, Castaic broadcast with his other student producers. He just recently announced on his Instagram page with enthusiasm about booking a recurring role on a new NBC series, filming in Atlanta, Georgia and premiering in the spring of 2023. As a young adult with the world at his fingertips, Zander is juggling a promising career and his education while other students can only aspire for the same success. With about a dozen acting credits already under his belt and finishing his last year of high school, his career shows great promise already. We can’t wait to watch and see where it goes from here!
