The Ultimate Irvine Escape
There’s something exciting happening in Irvine, and it begins the moment you pull into the beautifully reimagined Hyatt Regency Irvine. Following a stunning multi-million-dollar transformation, the hotel has quickly become one of Orange County’s premier destinations for both business travelers and weekend leisure escapes.
Formerly known as Hotel Irvine, the property underwent an extensive $55 million renovation that reintroduced the hotel under the Hyatt Regency brand with redesigned guestrooms and suites, refreshed public spaces, elevated dining experiences, and expansive indoor-outdoor gathering areas.
From the moment we arrived, the hotel delivered a polished yet relaxed Southern California atmosphere. The newly renovated lobby feels contemporary and welcoming, with warm textures, modern design elements, and plenty of inviting spaces to gather or unwind. The guestrooms continue the elevated aesthetic with understated luxury, plush bedding, thoughtful layouts, and the kind of comfort that instantly makes you feel on vacation.
One of the highlights of our stay was the resort-style pool experience, which truly feels like a destination within the hotel itself. Hyatt Regency Irvine has created a lively outdoor oasis perfect for couples, families, or a girls’ getaway weekend. The expansive pool deck features two waterslides, oversized lounge areas, private cabanas, a large LED video wall, and a seasonal poolside bar.
We enjoyed a private cabana rental during our stay, and it elevated the experience completely. The cabanas include shaded lounge seating, cooling fans, a mini refrigerator, flat-screen television, and attentive poolside service. It was easy to spend the entire afternoon relaxing poolside with cocktails and snacks while soaking in the California sunshine.
Dining was another standout of the trip. Located inside the hotel, Warehouse 72 offers a stylish and energetic dining experience where art, design, and cuisine intersect beautifully. The restaurant features a dramatic indoor-outdoor space, an expansive patio, creative cocktails, and a culturally inspired modern American menu.
Every dish we sampled was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, while the handcrafted cocktails were equally impressive. The ambiance manages to feel upscale yet approachable, making it ideal for date night, group gatherings, or a sophisticated evening out during your stay.
Breakfast each morning was served in the hotel’s Regency Club, which quickly became one of our favorite amenities. The club offers a more private and relaxed setting for guests with club access, serving breakfast in the mornings along with afternoon refreshments and evening offerings. It was the perfect way to begin the day before heading out to explore Irvine and the surrounding Orange County area.
On our second evening, we ventured out for dinner at Oliver’s Trattoria, where Owner and Executive Chef Erik De Marchi has created a warm and authentic Italian dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The manager, Gian Franco welcomed us enthusiastically and encouraged us to experience a variety of dishes from the menu, creating one of the most memorable dining experiences of the trip.
Beyond the hotel itself, Irvine makes an ideal weekend getaway because of its central location and easy access to some of Orange County’s best attractions. Guests can spend the day shopping at nearby South Coast Plaza, explore the scenic beauty of Newport Beach just minutes away, or enjoy family attractions including Disneyland Resort, located approximately 14 miles from the hotel.
For travelers seeking a luxurious yet approachable Orange County escape, Hyatt Regency Irvine delivers the perfect combination of modern sophistication, resort-style amenities, excellent dining, and a prime Southern California location. Whether you’re planning a romantic weekend, a family getaway, or simply looking for a stylish staycation close to home, this newly transformed hotel deserves a spot on your list.
