Together in Service: Santa Clarita’s 5th Annual Unity Walk
In Santa Clarita, service is more than an action — it’s part of who we are. Our City has always wrapped its arms around those in need, supporting our most vulnerable neighbors through compassion and community spirit. This is seen every day in the abundance of local nonprofits that dedicate themselves to helping seniors, children, animals, individuals experiencing homelessness, those battling cancer, people with disabilities and so many more. It’s also reflected in the countless volunteers who give their time, skills and resources to lift others up.
That is why the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Walk has become such a meaningful Santa Clarita tradition — a celebration that perfectly captures the heart of our community.
The 5th Annual Unity Walk will take place on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Central Park, near the City’s new public art piece, When Cloud Met a Cloud. This year’s theme, “Mission Possible 2 – Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way,” continues the call to action Dr. King championed: to create lasting change through peace, understanding and unity.
The event will begin with welcoming remarks from the Mayor, followed by a moving Invocation, representing diverse faiths united by a shared message of hope and harmony.
Participants will also be treated to uplifting performances from local youth, whose bright voices will fill the park with hope and inspiration. There is something especially powerful about hearing children sing — their voices echoing Dr. King’s message of unity, peace and possibility. As they share their songs, the community can find inspiration in their optimism.
New this year, students from the William S. Hart Union High School District will participate in a special essay contest, reflecting on how Dr. King’s message continues to inspire today’s youth. The winning essay will be read during the program.
Guests are encouraged to bring donations to support Bridge to Home, our community’s primary homeless services provider. This act of service is a simple but powerful way to embody Dr. King’s spirit of giving back.
Dr. King’s life was defined by his unwavering dedication to service — the belief that true greatness comes not from power or position, but from a steadfast commitment to helping others. This year’s Unity Walk is an invitation for every resident to carry that message forward, continuing Santa Clarita’s mission to build a stronger, kinder and more unified community.
