Veterans Resource Guide 2024

In honor of Veteran’s Day which is on November 11, 2024, we are excited to present a comprehensive collection of valuable services and support specifically curated for veterans and their families. This guide is designed to complement the recent JCI Santa Clarita Veterans Resource Fair that was on September 21, 2024, at William S. Hart Park, where attendees we able to access job placement assistance, health resources, educational opportunities and so many more resources in one place. We hope this resource guide serves as a helpful tool in navigating the many services available to veterans in Santa Clarita. Thank you for your service!

American Legion
A patriotic veterans’ organization that supports military service members and their families through advocacy, community service, youth programs, and veteran affairs, promoting national security and honoring the legacy of American heroes.

Blue Star Mothers of SCV
A nonprofit organization of mothers with children serving or who have served in the military. They provide support to one another and their communities while promoting patriotism and veteran care.

Blue Star Ranch
A nonprofit organization that provides equine therapy to veterans and their families. Using therapeutic horseback riding and equine-assisted activities, they help veterans heal from trauma, reduce stress, and improve emotional well-being through interactions with horses.

CalVet
The California Department of Veterans Affairs offers a wide range of services for veterans, including healthcare, housing, education, and benefits counseling, helping to ensure the well-being of California’s veteran population.

COC Vet Department
The College of the Canyons Veterans Resource Center provides veterans with academic, career, and personal support as they transition to student life. Services include VA benefits assistance, counseling, and peer mentoring.

Guardians
Organizations or individuals dedicated to protecting and advocating for the rights, welfare, and dignity of vulnerable populations, including veterans, the elderly, and those with disabilities, ensuring they receive proper care and support.

Guide Dogs of America
A nonprofit that trains and provides service dogs to people who are visually impaired, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. The dogs assist with mobility, independence, and improving the overall quality of life.

Guitars for Vets
A nonprofit that provides free guitar lessons to veterans struggling with physical injuries or post-traumatic stress. Music therapy helps them manage stress, build confidence, and form connections through the healing power of music.

Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHALA)
MHALA provides mental health services, advocacy, and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Their programs promote recovery, reduce stigma, and offer resources to help people lead meaningful, productive lives.

Operations at End Overdose
A nonprofit dedicated to preventing drug overdose deaths through education, training, and distributing life-saving naloxone kits. They work to raise awareness and empower communities to respond effectively to the opioid crisis.

RAW – Rebuilding America’s Warriors
A nonprofit organization offering free reconstructive surgeries to veterans who have suffered combat injuries. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for wounded veterans through expert medical care and rehabilitation.

Santa Clarita Veterans Collaborative
A coalition of organizations and individuals that work together to support veterans’ needs. They collaborate on advocacy, resources, and services to ensure veterans receive comprehensive care and opportunities post-service.

Stack Up
A nonprofit that supports veterans and active military members through gaming. Their programs provide mental health support, build community, and deliver video game care packages to troops deployed around the world.

Vietnam Veterans
Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, many of whom are active in veteran advocacy and support organizations. They work to ensure their fellow veterans receive recognition, benefits, and care for their service.

VPAN (Veterans Peer Access Network)
A Los Angeles County initiative that connects veterans to essential services through peer-to-peer support. VPAN helps veterans navigate mental health care, housing, employment, and other resources, fostering a community of support and empowerment for veterans in need.

Work For Warriors CA
A job placement program run by the California National Guard, providing employment services to veterans, service members, and their families. They offer career counseling, résumé assistance, and direct connections to hiring employers.

Wounded Warrior Project
A nonprofit organization that supports veterans and service members who have sustained physical or mental injuries during military service. They offer a wide range of programs, including mental health services, physical rehabilitation, and career counseling, to help warriors transition to civilian life.
