Virtual Events In Santa Clarita
The City of Santa Clarita has not let COVID-19 restrictions put a stop to the creative and engaging events that they work hard to deliver to the public! The only change is that events are now being conducted virtually! Participating in these events is a great way to stay involved with the community while protecting your health and the health of others.
With public art pieces on display throughout the City, as well as free art galleries in City facilities with rotating exhibits, residents of Santa Clarita enjoy a wide variety of engaging and enriching opportunities daily. If you are unable to view the City’s public art in-person, you can still browse the pieces online at SantaClaritaArts.com/PublicArt. You can also virtually stroll through current art exhibitions at SantaClaritaArts.com/Galleries. Take the time to view original work from local artists in online galleries like “Art in Isolation,” “Sweets,” “2020 Graduation Caps,” the “Youth Arts Showcase” and countless others.
In Old Town Newhall, also known as Santa Clarita’s Arts and Entertainment District, crowds have been entertained weekly with comedy, theatre, concerts and more at The MAIN. Although their physical doors remain closed at the moment, their virtual doors are open! The MAIN is continuing to host both fun and interactive events for our community for free. Monthly shows have been recorded and shared on The MAIN’s Facebook page, including “10 by 10 Variety Night” and “You’re The Best” community talent show. The MAIN has also resumed production on its New Heights Artist Development Workshop Series, virtually! New Heights supports the personal and professional development of these artists by presenting a topic each month that helps these individuals further their careers. Topics have included tips for songwriters, how to set up a home recording studio, indie filmmaking advice and a discussion on art as a business.
Another exciting event that The MAIN has recently adapted to a virtual format is Stage On Screen (SOS) Theatre Fest! SOS Theatre Fest is Santa Clarita Valley’s live online festival featuring local performers. Each week, the cast gets together for a question-and-answer session and to give a preview of the play that will be performed that week. Live productions have included works such as “The War of the Worlds,” “Diaries of Adam and Eve” and many more! It is a fun and exciting experience to see the collaborative efforts local theatre companies and staff at The MAIN bring to this unique series. Learn more about upcoming events and live productions at www.Facebook.com/TheMAINNewhall.
The online fun doesn’t stop at virtual galleries and events delivered by The MAIN and the City’s Arts and Events division. City of Santa Clarita staff continues to be innovative in introducing online events for all ages, which was made evident in the recent Virtual Great American Family Camp Out. As we adjust to a temporary new normal in Santa Clarita, continue to monitor Santa-Clarita.com for updates and the latest lineup of virtual opportunities.
