All the Comforts of Home – Westridge Home Shines
by Joshua Price
There are many beautiful homes nestled within and around the Santa Clarita Valley, as is the one being spotlighted this month. Welcome to this luxuriously comfortable home in Valencia’s prestigious Westridge community. Here, you are just as happy cuddled up with your loved one as you are entertaining large crowds. The immaculately manicured front yard is a sight to behold. A stamped concrete driveway leads to the large dark wooden garage doors, while a flagstoned walkway and pillars beckon from the street toward the home. Rose bushes frame the yard, bespeckling it in white and red. Lovely trees dot the landscape, and planters of impatiens, alyssum, bottlebrush, and geraniums accent the yard with sparks of fiery red and delicate pinks. Inside the entry, a courtyard invites you to linger a bit. The outdoor fireplace, furniture, and a bottle of wine entice you to take a seat. You can picture the roaring fire, as you sit with your spouse, talking late into the evenings enjoying a glass of Chardonnay and each other’s company. Entering the house through their custom door, a beautiful inlay adds visual artistry that catches your eye. A design of travertine and granite is not only a visual draw of color, but also dramatic in movement. To the left, a formal dining room awaits. Rich walnut furniture with deep inlay offers comfortable seating for eight guests, while a wine cabinet proffers all of the beverages sufficient for dinner. A stately china cabinet is filled with delicate floral china, and a large tapestry hangs on the wall; accented by large golden tassels and burnished side mirrors, truly tying the room together. Opposite sits the living room, appealing as it is draped in various scarlets, golds, and creams. Walnut accents add warmth and greenery adds a natural feel to the room. A grandfather clock sets in the corner, a shared gift the owners gave each other for Christmas of 1997; and a large framed painting hangs on the wall to complete the feel of the room. The family room and kitchen are united in this flowing floor plan, creating a lovely “great room.” Seating is comfortable, whether reclining in the rich brown leather recliner or one of the camel couches. If not comfortable there, then there is a rich tapestried chair with a matching ottoman beckoning from the corner. Classic books punctuate the room, distinguished hints of an avid reader. A large dark wood entertainment center wraps the wall, and a fireplace sits distinguished in the corner, complete with a custom wrought iron screen, a visual juxtaposition to the pure white of the surrounding hearth and mantle. Across, an impressive kitchen provides ample space for preparing meals to entertain your guests. Granite countertops provide a delicate frost to the maple cabinets. Hanging pendant lights provide delicate lighting to the bar area, accented by iron bar stools. A separate bar area not only provides an area to mix libations, but also to garnish food before taking it to the dining room. The entire great room is well lit from ample natural light spilling from the multitude windows. Inside the master bedroom, a setting area provides a retreat in multiple ways. A large setting area, complete with couches and chairs, provides comfortable seating for conversation or reading. Meanwhile, in the sleeping area, a large bed sits regally as the focal point, covered delicately in a floral spread. Accented by a large dark frame and set by nightstands and a dresser, it is a humble abode for retiring nightly to. The master bath also provides further retreat. Creamy travertine is punctuated by the antiqued bronze faucets and accents. There is no sharing necessary, as his and hers sinks are provided. A large standing shower offsets the large tub, so there is room to spread, whether reclining or otherwise. In the back, plenty of yard space is available for entertaining. Surrounded by various palms, roses, flaxes, lilies, and other flowers, a delicate floral scent permeates the yard. The large outdoor kitchen is under a covered patio, where guests can sit and mingle at one of the stools or around the two tables. Two televisions provide entertainment if conversation isn’t enough for you and you don’t want to miss the game! The large pool is a nice natural water element, flagged in “Three Rivers” stone and a pebble sheen. Stamped concrete creates a natural looking deck; and the spa has been decidedly located outside of the master bedroom for convenient access from inside the home. Meanwhile, a second outdoor fireplace is surrounded by furniture, beckoning more conversation. Wherever you find yourself in this lovely home, there is no doubt that you will find yourself comfortable and calm. Whether curling up on a couch or chair with a pillow and a good book, lying in bed under blankets, or sitting by a fireplace with cherished friends and a glass of wine, you will be more than relaxed. Surrounded by the chirruping of wild birds and the buzz of the bees, this tranquil bit of paradise is everything you would look for, in a place to call…home.
