The time has come to bid adieu to summer and welcome autumn with open arms.   The temperature is cooling down and the vibrant oranges and reds are beginning to paint our Valley with all the wonderful colors fall has to offer.  Warm summer days are cooled off by the new season’s breeze and cozying up with a warm blanket, pumpkin pie and a movie makes for a perfect evening.

Speaking of movies, meet Mike DeLorenzo, our cover story.  Mike is the President/Partner of Santa Clarita Studios and has been since 1999.  Films like True Lies, Adaptation and television shows like CSI Las Vegas and Carnivale have all been filmed at the Studios, bringing in a tremendous amount of revenue to our Valley.  Learn more about Mike and his success in the film industry in our feature story.
Over the last few months, our readers were given the opportunity to vote on their favorites in dining, beauty, fitness and more recently, your favorites in home and garden. We are pleased to announce the winners of the élite Ultimate Home and Garden Awards in this issue.  Congratulations to all our 2011 élite Ultimate winners and to those who have supported élite Magazine throughout the years.  We received nearly 30,000 votes over the last year and we are looking forward to featuring all the 2011 winners in our December/January issue of élite Magazine.
Not only does fall bring cooler temperatures, it also brings many special events and ways we, as a community, can come together to help our non-profit organizations and the people they support.  Join the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their efforts to help bring hope and inspiration to those battling blood cancers at this year’s SCV Light the Night Walk on October 29.  Another way you can help is by supporting American Heart Association’s HeartChase, a new event to our community.  On November 20, friends, family and community members will gather to help in the fight against heart disease and stroke in a fun and exciting competition.
Talent is definitely abundant in our Valley.  Have an event to remember with four great musicians who make up the band, Acoustic Soul.  They’re a fun band, always delivering an exciting evening full of timeless classic rock tunes.  You may even recognize the band as they have performed at various events in the SCV.  Santa Clarita resident, Joe McFadden, has taken his musical talents to Atlanta.  Joe recently joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Oscar Meza.  Get to know Joe in our Q & A feature with the talented musician.
Her beauty is endless, and we wish Setareh Khatibi all the best as she will be representing Newhall in the Miss California Pageant in January of next year.
