Thick, thin, curly, straight, flat, frizzy and fine, these are all words women use to describe their hair.  Did you know that you have the power to control your hair?  I know this may sound like a dream to some, but the truth is we all set the standards for our hair and they begin with the most basic of care – shampoo and conditioner.  Most women struggle with bad hair days more than the good ones, but once you understand what type of care your hair needs you then have the power to create the voluminous and shiny hair you have always dreamed of.

The Balancing Game

First off, price does not determine a good shampoo from a bad shampoo – it’s the ingredients that we should be looking at.  Just like health conscious people pay attention to nutritional facts, hair conscious people need to look at the list of ingredients when shopping.  While many name brand products can be purchased in the local store, more often than not they are not professional formula and for that reason it’s always best to purchase products directly from a salon professional retailer.
A great tip I learned from a salon professional is to shampoo the roots and work the foam down to the ends – only scrub your scalp.  When you scrub the ends of your hair you not only create friction, but the follicles can split causing more breakage.  When conditioning the hair, begin at the tips and work your way to the roots.  Use the mixture of water from your hair and conditioner to work to the roots.  This will lightly condition them without adding weight where you want volume.
