Mix high energy, chemistry and fun with a love and a passion for the community and you’ve got a recipe for success…You’ve also got the morning show hosts for SCV Today, Dave Caldwell and Tami Edwards.
“People think he’s my father,” states a smiling Tami.  “Yeah, okay Tami,” interjects Dave.
It’s moments like these where you can’t help but smile when you’re around the two, and when you watch their morning show, you certainly can’t help but fall more in love with Santa Clarita.
“We live in such a unique community,” states Dave, “and we hope to capture that in our morning show.  The show is all about Santa Clarita Valley, what a great place it is to live, work and play.”
Having been raised in the Midwest, Dave recognizes a lot of similarities between the city he grew up in and ours.  “Santa Clarita is the most Midwestern type of city in southern California…there is such a sense of community out here which truly makes it a great place to be.”
SCV Today is a one-hour morning show that first aired on May 1, 2012.  “I met Dave at an SCV Chamber of Commerce event,” states Tami.  “I introduced myself and talked about some of my ideas for a morning show.  Some three hours later we were still talking.”
One text led to another, and soon thereafter SCV Today was born.  
“The concept of having a morning show was to be able to reach out to the community of people who weren’t in the know about events going on around our town.  We want to be the who, what, when, where and why of Santa Clarita, and so far we have been successful,” states Tami.  “Without the community, there is no show, but people have rallied around this idea and have supported us tremendously.  From Capelli Salon who does hair and makeup, Mike Bjorkman, and 211 Enterprises, to Fresh, who donates wardrobe for the show, local businesses have all been instrumental to our success.”
No stranger to news, Dave has been broadcasting, producing and writing about Santa Clarita sports since 1997.  His co-host, on the other hand, wasn’t prepared to be in front of the camera, but filled the position perfectly.  “When I first pitched the idea of a morning show, I didn’t intend to host it,” states Tami.
“I knew all along Tami was the right choice from the beginning,” states Dave.  “I knew the community would fall in love with her and that’s happened in spades.”
“We have big dreams,” states Tami.  “SCVTV is growing, and we want to share the love we have for Santa Clarita with everyone.  Our focus is on what we can do for the community.”
“We are a non-profit organization, and any extra money that comes in is turned back into the program that essentially goes back to Santa Clarita,” states Dave.  “It’s about keeping it local, it’s about supporting our community.  At the end of the day, we all flourish.”
